Default good dozer gear motor

hey guys im about to do my summer project and build a dozer. but i need some good gear motors. i need something strong but not to large. im building a dozer that not tiny like the bruder but not huge like a mining machine, just a average sized machine 1/14 scale. good load for a lowboy sized dozer , if that all made since something good thanks,

also i'd like to keep the volts somewhere in th 4-11.1 range so i can use regular old esc's

I've used this type for various projects, and it worked very well for me with 3S battery. I've seen some others on here use it too. Totally quiet and very strong. Rated torque at ~30kg/cm and stall torque at up to 87.5kg/cm for the ~15 RPM versions. Lots of RPM versions available.

There are at least two alternative vendors for this form factor:
- GW31ZY-14 12VDC 14RPM 30kg/cm
- TSINY TS-40GZ495-1216 12VDC 16RPM

Specs for the TSINY version:

Best regards,
Stein :-)

could i use two servo's? i can get two servo the are 203 oz or torque and they will be smaller
and easyer to install? this machine going to be about 16" long and about 7-8" high mostly metal.

Sure, just get some continuous rotation ones:
- Spring RC SM-S4315M 15kg

or convert some to continuous rotation. There are lots of videos on YouTube on how to convert:

So let me see if I understand this right (I guess this is a test of what I've learned so far lol): if those motors are 12 volts, then an 11 milh battery wouldn't have enough power to feed them? Is that right?

true, but not true........ some 12v motors and run fine on lower volts but you would not get the full power that a full 12v will give you. the other thing is that sometimes you can burn out
the motors if if they are running to low on volts. but that's kind of rare. but to be safe it would be better to run them on 12v's.

Bear in mind that a 3S LiPo battery only has an average voltage of 11.1 volts, but when it's full it's 12.6 volts and when it's completely empty it's 9.0 (but you shouldn't drain it that low). If you go for a 4s battery, the average voltage is 4 x 3.7V = 14.8v but the fully-charged voltage is 4 x 4.2v = 16.8v which is a bit high.

When you run your motors with an ESC, the effective voltage to the motor will vary from 0v to the battery voltage when you change the throttle, so unless you always run at full throttle, the motor would very rarely see the full battery voltage. I wouldn't worry too much about matching it perfectly.

Cosworth34677 is right that you can even burn your motors at low voltages, you can actually burn them on most voltages if the motor is stalled. Energy is always preserved, and since it cannot go out into kinetic energy (movement), all of the energy put into the motor must become heat. The stall current can be very high even on low voltages and the heat will build up and burn your motor. A stalled motor almost looks like a short circuit to the battery. If your input voltage is too low to make the motor turn, then you have the stall condition and you will burn the motor, even if the voltage is as low as 3-4 volts (depending on the DC resistance of the motor).

I run the motors I mentioned above on a 3S LiPo and that works well. But I also almost always use a current-limiting ESC to always be sure not to burn the motor (or break the gear box). :-)

Well I am looking for a geared motor for my bruder excavator now. I like the look SteinHDan posted.
What RPM should I get for excavator on 3S?
