Default Volvo EC700B

Good day everyone,

I will give you a impression from the buiding of my Volvo EC700B Excavator.
It take's me more than 3 years to built.
Scale 1:16, weigth 22 kg, length with boom more than 110cm.
The first thing I do is buy a decast model 1:50, find drawings, pictures and details of the real one.
I scale up the PDF file from the Volvo site and use this to get the dimensions then I made construction drawings in Auto Cad.

The undercarriage looks great! I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures. Are you planning on building the body out of aluminum or something else?

Very nice work! I haven't seen many builds where people make their own slip rings. Good job!

Looks good! That's the same style swing circle I used on my crane only mine was made out of acetal and not as fancy.

Really nice work on the under carriage! The tracks you used look familiar. Robot tracks, right? Do you plan to add some cleats to them, for more traction, or will they be grippy enough as they are? I see your boom is already well along in construction too. This should be a great looking model!

If you are looking to build something current it is no big deal. Go to the manufacturers website and download their brochure. Most have very good side and rear profiles that can be expanded to the size you want. If you want to build a model of an older machine it may get a little more tricky. You can either look for a parts book for it or go find a real one and take lots of pictures and measurements...When you think you have taken enough take more!

What's going on with this EC700? Any updates Ramon?
