so i finally starting my new excavator project!
good summer project i think. the frame and heavy parts are '
going to be made out of .125 aluminum and body and details are going to be brass and .080 aluminium. also using some parts from vex robotics i got for a old crane project that never was started.

its going to be close to 1/14 scale. it kind of changed from a atlus to a cat 320e
so its still med size excavator i'm going to use the magom hrc pumps and valves too you can't beat the price and i used alot of there stuff. the bad thing that ever bothered me about their stuff is the brushed motor but looks like that has changed

I would almost bet you will be making your own track frames. just start with aluminum square tube and go from their. that way the center of your track frame will be aluminum where the turntable mounts and it wont flex and bend. mine was thin aluminum in thr beggining and i didn't even have much their of to much weight and it was already to flexible. but everything on my ex has been rebuilt atleast twice only improving they way i think and build evry time. thats the funnest part forvme anyways. i like what you have so far and i hope to see lots of pics and ideas

I just thought id say take a look at rc loggers posting. he shows a lot if good ideas budt the one i like most is the turn table he uses which i bought my self. it holds up tp 200 pounds side to side and uses a 1/4 scale servo and an aluminum and a brass gear should. just a thought

Neat! It is cool when stuff like the hoses and pipes add detail as well as function.:) Looks like a fun project.

Oh, and, I missed it, how are you cutting the plate parts like the boom sides and cab parts? They look good!
