Hi all i'm a newbie to the hobby, so please excuse my ignorance. about a month ago I was messing around online and came across the orange stretched king hauler on ***'s web site ,and decided I had to have one. a few weeks ago I had a grand hauler delivered, I built it and am moving on to a semi-scratch build. I figured if I started a thread it'd motivate me to see it through completion.

so my first question is I just bought two lesu axles, and the rear link suspension kit, it came with the brackets to mount the lower links to the axle but no way to install the upper wishbone link the the axle housing, has anybody come across this?

thanks for the help :D

Doesnt that setup come with a full suspension attached?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LESU-TRACTOR-TRAILER-REAR-SUSPENSION-SCANIA-KING-GLOBE-MAN-TAMIYA-1-14-X-8002-/311476762714?hash=item488576385a:g:MLsAAOSwl8NVZjG V

It's weird that your axels dont have the pins on top for the wishbone, Also weird that, that entire suspension does not come pre assembled. Looks like there should be two holes on top and bottom where you can attached that center pin for the wishbone.
Maybe who ever you got this from didnt include it?

Scott M

that's what I thought but im missing the upper mount, and im I supposed to drill the new housing? thanks

The easiest way to post pix is to take photos and then put them up on photobucket, copy the direct link and press the little mountaint image on here and paste in the box that comes up.

Honestly, I wouldn't drill them, I think that you should contact who ever you got them from and say hey listen its missing the mounts. The axles are useless without that wishbone part. The axles should have the holes already drilled to mount the part.

Unless you can figure out a way to use tamiya suspensions with the axles but than that will defeat the purpose.

Hello Scott

The missing parts you need is not included in the kit.....and that is stupid.
the only seller that will include that is amusingparts123 on evilbye.
But you need to ask him to do that....who would know you need to ask for it anyway. Hope you can solve the problem. good luck

Right on thanks guys. It was semi joes truck shop. What bs that the brackets aren't included. I thought that I got everything that was in the pic minus the axles. But he also miss led me on the aluminum frame pieces his picture shows 3 but he only ships one. After I get my axle brackets I'm done dealing with him.

Hey Scott M, If you scroll down in the add page it says you need extra parts depending on what axle your using. Not sure if that is the part you are missing? I've ordered a bunch from Joes and never had a problem (some times extra parts) maybe just lucky? But like bigford said you can file a claim and it should work out one way or another.

I wish I would have thought about requesting them before ordering the brackets I don't see how he has such a good trader rating, with the way he does the bait and switch.

finally thanks for tip on posting pics. I'm using a grand hauler cab for the new build, so started by cutting the head lights out. I tried finding a local source for styrene, but no luck so far.

that's just a small portion of whats been shipped in. Or maybe its because I've been ordering just about two of everything.
Russ at truescale a.k.a the bone yard has been nice enough to help me through the process of a custom build, as well as improving my grand hauler.

Scott M

So I had a chance to get some work done last night. I originally started the night working on putting a third axle on my trailer but quickly realized what I bought is different then the axles that are currently there. So I ended up using the third axles pats for the front suspension on the custom build, and it just snowballed from there. Thanks to Ric at Garden trucking sorry for bastardizing your parts. Hopefully all these pics will post:rolleyes:

Not to much progress on the truck. After starting to fit the cab I realized that the tires were going to rub the outer fender lip, I spoke with Russ @ truescale and being the true craftsman he is, he's making me a narrowed front beam. I also decided to switch the frame out and build off another set of rails, I decided to run a two speed trans from rc4wd instead of the single speed I had mocked up, and I bought another set of rims. I've been side tracked on the build because, I thought it'd be easy to paint the cab on my grand hauler, which has turned out to be a bunch of work. I'm still not ready to paint the cab yet, and the fam and I are taking a five day vac. which is hurting the progress on both trucks. I really don't really have progress picks but here's a peak at some of the new shiny bits. Thanks for looking:D

The way you are collecting shiny bits you will soon have enough for a third truck ! :)
Your truck seems to be evolving and getting more interesting while you are building it.

Scott M
12-18-2015, 09:11 PM
Absolutely, if you would have told me three months ago I'd be spending money on a rc semi. I would have laughed hestarically. As I get further into the hobby my tastes are evolving, with the new parts I find available for these rigs. Your right though I do believe I almost have enough parts to build a third rig. Thanks!!

Sorry for the time between updates on the build. I had come across a issue while building and realized the front tires weren't tucking into the body like I wanted. So I got in touch with Mr.Russ at true scale and asked him to make a narrowed front I-beam, and while we were at it he made me some custom frame rails. here's the beginning of the new frame build.

Nice rig!!! That's sick, the overall goal is too have adjustable suspension to raise it up.

Scott M
03-07-2017, 01:23 AM
So after a break from building I decided to pick this back up. I ended up having to modify the rear end set up and flip the top bracket so the upper support lets the upper links travel further up into the frame. I'll post pics later of the rear set up. I wanted this rig to have adjustable suspension, so I'm using air struts to lift it up and down. The back is partially done and the front is mocked up here's so pics of progress

So in the pictures you can see I mocked up the lifting and lowering cantilever with a servo horn, later I'll have a piece machined with a bearing in it. As the strut extends it lists the frame up off the axle, sliding on the axle pads

Awesome build. Looks like you know your way around metal work. Can't wait to see the final product.

Scott M
03-18-2017, 06:52 PM
Thanks man, I can't take too much credit for the metal work, I bought all the components from Russ@ true scale. We've been collaborating for awhile on the parts, I just tell him what I need and he does the rest. The builds on hold for a moment while waiting on some more parts, mainly the air components which are coming from Korea I think. I started doing some more research and came across robart, who seems to have the experience for the air system, once I get what I've previously ordered I'll be back on the emails with robart to finish it up.
