Looking for advice to where to start on building RC Construction equipment. I mainly want to build an excavator, then a dump truck, dozer, maybe a conveyor belt. Need to dig out my basement when 40 below weather hits here in North Dakota.
Where is the best place to start, plans?
I bought John-Tom excavator plans, all is plastic and thought about using steel or aluminum. Wanted to make sure this will work first.
Saw a few kits online, but no answer, must be out of business???

Thank in advance

Welcome to forum RP14.

The best place to start is reading the forum, many great threads here ranging from members building kits from various manufactures to other members doing full on scratchbuilds to others doing a combination of both. You will see many links in every thread to source a wide variety of materials b/c everybody's build is different...

Read a few post and gotten some ideas. I am going to start with a toy truck and dissect it. Just need to figure out how to scale it up as well as finding parts sources such as hydraulics, tires, axles, motors, servos, tracks, etc. Will do mostly steel, maybe start with wood or cardboard as a template till I get it right. Wood and cardboard is cheap if not free, compared to metal or aluminum.
Thank you for the input.

One option worth considering?; Vario excavator kit + a Chinese 8x8 + trailer behind it or a Fumotec Bell dumper, get that basement dug out and make a nice warm toolshop in there - sell the RC Vario + 8x8/dumper and THEN start scratch building and take all the time you wish;)
