Running in water

I see several videos of equipment running in water deep enough that the motors or more may be totally or partially submerged.

Is this stuff waterproof/undamaged by water, or are these specially modified to get really wet? In particular seeing excavators and dozers.

(I do know speed controls can be water resistant versions)

Those would some interesting videos, 1:1's will run in water with special gear. RC takes a lot of special prep to run in the water. All of the electronics would need to be sealed including the motors. you'd have to run sealed bearings and then any metal parts would need to be protected from corrosion, the water will get into everything and cause rust which it takes very little to stop these things from working. The bottom line is its a lot of work and money to chance not screwing something up.
Out of curiosity why would you want/need to run one in the water?

As I know you need to seal your electronics. Many of todays ESC-s come waterproof, and brushed motors can go underwater. It remains to seal the servos and reciver. There are some products used for sealing.
I remember we used ballons and fit the electronics in them, when it was raining duing the race.

plastidip is great for waterproofing servos. also on a tamiya truck if u gonna run in water, dont upgrade to bearings... use original bushings.
