So I have decided to start a "Construction" Company thread. I will mostly be doing logging and the such, but may include a little dirtwork. The Truck build, that I have no pictures of yet :worthless:
It will be a Kenworth T800W Daycab with a log trailer
I also am starting a conversion of a Nylint Ford LTL9000 dump truck.
I hope to have some pictures soon guys!:o:o

Any help at all will be much appreciated.

So, as promised, here is a picture of the semi-complete (no pun) truck. It Will be a Kenworth T800w, daycab, with a heavy front end, pretty much a heavy hauler. The Frame is Integy 455mm frame rails, with 3d printed crossmembers, a 3d printed front axle, suspension, and wheels. The first attempt at the T800w hood is seen at the left, without fenders. But enough talk, I'll show you a picture.

So I tore apart a differential that I built, from 3D printed gears, then I found that a input gear was broke.

https://s33.postimg.cc/plh5thr8v/image.jpg (https://postimages.org/)

Then I took a look at the LTL9000, the wackjob who operated it before me, he was hard on it. When I swept it up, the grill, bumper, and beacons were smashed off.

I already pulled the axles out.

The guys at the shop decided to build a race truck, so this is what I deal with now

So I haven't made a lot of progress today. I assembled the rear differential, which has all custom 3D printed gears. I am anxious to see how they hold up under a load. I also planned a suspension for this truck. It will resemble a Hendrickson walking beam suspension, which I have seen RCP57 make a few of.

No pictures today, sorry guys :(:(

I also wanted to give a shout out to all of the members on here who have inspired me to start a RC semi build. The $#!+ you guys do is really inspirational!

So this one is for RCP57, Skeeter, Cooper, Lil Giants, Frizzen, and Egronvold.
You guys are awesome! :D:D:D:bounce::bounce::jaw:

Welcome aboard Trucking,
It'll be interesting to see how the 3d printed gears hold up. I know cast nylon can chew itself up with too much torque and traction. A motor that size looks pretty hungry in an offroad logger truck. The 3d parts on that integy frame look great.

Looks like the highway dept really beat on your old ford dump truck! Hope they paid ya to haul it off their lot. (Mmmm, unloved crusty abused steel) Or maybe just knock off the sticker schmoo and print a new grille.

Wait a second, i'm being called out on here about being a positive influence? If i deserve a place in that standing, it's by standing on the shoulders of real giants.

Skeet, Frizzy, and Egrovnold, you guys are welcome

Frizzen, the motor is a 25t size 380 out of a ECX Torment 1/18 scale, I might replace it soon, but I can't right now, money is tight. What motor would you recommend?

As for the ltl, I am gonna do a belt drive system, from a forum I saw over on Scale 4x4 RC.
But that isn't my first worry

Oh, my bad i thought it was a brushed 540/550 size like the tamiya semis use. Plastic parts might last a while behind that one then. Driving style also plays a big part, but I'd still probably try to keep spare diff gears on hand, or see if there's a donor somewhere with similar gear dimentions.

Special unveiling later.

It's bigger, it's badder, it's got no pictures taken of it yet, or I might have unveiled it now

The special unveiling is now folks :update:

The second attempt 3D printed Kenworth T800W. Complete with Frenchie Grill (Thanks Dad!) :D:lol:

https://s33.postimg.cc/i28c3lcqn/image.jpg (https://postimages.org/)

This hood, minus top or fenders, took 6 hours to print! I do not run my 3d printer at night, as I have no want for anything to mess up while I am asleep. :)

The fenders will be 3D printed, and the top will most likely be made of styrene.

Thanks for reading!

I have not made much headway on any projects, but I have started working on some goodies for the T800W. :)

So I have to say, I have not been doing a whole lot lately, but I had to do a little aluminum bending, and shining, and I ended up with this.

https://s33.postimg.cc/qa21nhnf3/image.jpg (https://postimages.org/)

I think it will end up needing a twin, because why not!?

The official finish date for the T800W, so far I have determined, it needs to be done for Cabin Fever 2019( It is time to start talking about that, right?). So if anyone will have any trailers they will need pulled at that event, let me know, because I might show up with a bobtail rig!:cop:

Cooper, also good to meet a fellow green mountaineer on this forum!:D

Not much going on around here lately! But that's explainable.... I have been having long work days, and when I get home, it is dinner and off to bed for me!:D Anyway, I have gotten a little done on the truck.

The differentials are fully assembled, and ready to mount.

https://s22.postimg.cc/cjkgu49hd/image.jpg (https://postimages.org/)

Motor is ready for the final drop in.

https://s22.postimg.cc/jmsc9s4n5/image.jpg (https://postimages.org/)

Other than that, not much happening here. Began work on a logyard to drive my truck into.

Well, another weekend of unproductivity!:( I did get a little work done on the truck though. I fabricated some basic suspension parts for the rear axles. And finished up the differentials, driveshafts, and motor

https://s22.postimg.cc/b5r1gve41/image.jpg (https://postimages.org/)

But other than that, I have not done much. Even those solid beam suspension parts are messed up. I made them to short!!! :o :cop:

Still more to come!

So, still in a slump.

But I have gotten a little bit of work done in the past week or so.

This is a solid beam non-steering lift axle.

https://s22.postimg.cc/68ldijidt/image.jpg (https://postimages.org/)

It was a long project to get this to print right, then to figure out a mounting system for it, then to realize that I was not going to use it on the T800W frame, it is too short!

Still, I am slowly making some progress on the T800W build. Although, I have recently come across the idea of using all Tamiya parts on my differentials, so it is done right, as the plastic gears are prone to binding up.

Soooooo.....
It's been almost a month since my last post. I have been busy with some family stuff, and work, and occasionally doing a little work on my T800W.

https://s22.postimg.cc/sehni1wvl/image.jpg (https://postimages.org/)image uploading (https://postimages.org/)

I bought some tires for my truck. Including some RC4WD Super Wide 1.7s for the front side.

Other than that, not much going on! I also started a half round dump trailer build, but I think the chassis might get a custom wood chip style box, I need to move a large amount of rubble out of the log yard, and I won't have the dump set up complete until sometime this winter.

So....
Not much going on around here....
I kinda broke my arm while I was riding a four wheeler a few weeks ago... unfortunately I can’t use my arm for at least another week, so that halted work on the T800W.

The non steerable drop look good sitting there by the truck.

BUmmer to hear about your arm. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery!

Back in the saddle! (Kinda)

My arm is still in a cast, but I managed to start a new suspension on my T800W. It’s kind of like a 4-bag air ride suspension... without airbags.

Pretty cool to watch you try to 3D print a trk, keep going with it, very interesting

I feel your pain in the arm, I took a tumble on my quad spring of '07 & crack my pelvis, no cast & no hobby activity for 3 months! Take 'er easy ;)

Hello all....

Thank you Lil Giants, yes it has been taking it easy for the past month and a half, only 4 days left in a cast for me. WooWoo

Anyway, not a whole lot going on around here.

So it’s been a hot minute since I’ve shown any work on my truck.... and I still don’t have a lot to show for my efforts. The chassis is finished for the most part. I just have to fix the front hub for the wide steer tires. After I finally test drive it, I will finish the cab and hood.
