Another build, this one is a bit of a big guy, cats 6015b. Fairly new in the line up. I’ve been having a hard time gathering information on this one. But I did manage to get a ccm model and a parts book (cd). Going to start with the under carriage. From what I gather the track chains are same as the d11 so that will be a plus when I rebuild the d11. Right now I’m in the vets office waiting ona check up on our 10 year old Irish wolfhound so no pics yet. Killing time and eager to share. My converted 4200 excavator has been wearing out and the company was able to step up the other year with the mill to build the 993k. So this will be built on similar lines as the loader. Maybe not the best in detail but built to work and not suffer much downtime. :). (Hopefully). I’ve already built a couple valve bodies that will readily accept m5 fittings with 6mm hose. Permacon valves are the best but can’t easily have two fittings for 6mm hose coming off them. That was the first hurdle, not done as I need to take them to a friends that has a surface grinder to properly machine them. Pics to come later.

This will be a fun build to watch come together as always.

HAH! was wondering what you've been up to... will this be a back hoe or front shovel?

My Vario uses two 6mm hose fittings to supply enough oil to the boom.

Did you ever find the source for that 110bar flexible hose? :D

Size comparison for those that have seen the 993 and dozer. The 6015 will make short work of loading the haul truck ;).

Printed some test pieces of track links. Possibly more detail but going for more reliability than super detail. I want to make sure they don’t clog up very easily so some bigger clearances are incorporated. Mostly in the track pads where they nest against each other These are a little different than the universal links I made for the d11, these have a specific left and right. And will be making them steel. Pads will probably be alum as they will never wear out

The start of track pins. These are just one side cut and Cut to overall length.

And a check to see how existing dozer pads would fit. (If I make new dozer chains or new dozer in future these should be same chains)

Finally got to making some parts. Spent a good amount of time trying to find the best solution to making track pads. I’m making 5 at a time , opp 1 is raw stock, then flipped over to machine bottomside. So every time the mill stops 5 pads. Some detail in them that generates long machine time over 2-1/2 hours for 5 parts. Probably could get that down some but proven and reliable tool paths.

How many pads make up a complete track on one side?

How many pads make up a complete track on one side?

46 I think without looking. Making them in sets of 5 so I’m making 50 per side, 100 per machine, will have a few extras. Should not need any extra as it’s an excavator but will be nice to have. I tried to maximize clearances from one pad to the next. Really helps with small sand grains wedging and making the tracks arch up.
