Hello together,

I am Andreas from Nuremberg in Germany. I am 39 old. My hobby RC modeling in scale 1:8 I`ll do since 12 years. I have found this forum a few days ago.

I want to show you my two models I have build. The first model was a John Deere 9560R. For that model I build round About six years. It is not finished yet.

Here are two Videos of the John Deere 9560R scale 1:8.

https://youtu.be/qowjj_ZpcZY

https://youtu.be/-0EoOj4Sw3A

The second model is a CATERPILLAR 390D 1:8. This is my actual Project.
Here some Videos of my CAT:

So enjoy it. Sorry for my english. I hope you can understand me.

On my channel you can find the latest work.

Hi Andreas, impressive! Been reading up on your build on the modell-baustelle forum.

Hope you don't mind I post the link for those interested. Really worth checking out if only just for the pictures.

Hello at all,

I am very happy that you look at my Project. Yes of course feel free and go to that link. You can also go to my YouTube channel and on the right sight there is also the link (Caterpillar390D 1:8) to the forum, where I posted the most about my CAT.

So here is my channel:

If you like my channel and you don`t want to miss the next steps, please subscripe to it.

I find it fantastic to share this nice Hobby with guys all other the world.

So for me it is interesting where are you from. So maybe some of you have fun to tell me where are they from.

As I told I am from nuremberg in Germany. In europe espacially Germany, Austria and Switzerland there are a lot of people doing that hobby - bulding RC construction Equipment. Maybe you know the big companies like Premacon and scaleart?

Thank you guys.

Hello Andreas and welcome :)

That 390 is massive in 1:8 scale, how much it weights ?
Great work with both of your models.

Hello,

Thanks to all for that good feedback. The weiht is round about 180kg. The handling is not easy. Maybe I can make a actual Video driving up and down my workbench. This is always very exciting for me, because I must be very careful that the cat does not slip to one side. When this will happen I must jump away, I can not prevent it.....

Thank you for suscriping. Greetings back to Finland

180kg  and I cursed my Cat 374's weigh when carrying it around, and that 's just 30kg.

Hello,

Since I am currently still waiting for parts, I let the CAT run again today. This time I filmed the ascent and descent on my workbench for you. This is always a really exciting thing for me. If the excavator starts to slide here, I can only jump to the side ....
But everything went well again this time. I only fear the aluminum ramps will not survive forever. But see for yourself …

now it was finally a bit further on the CAT. For one thing, I redesigned the ventilation grilles and started with the cabin. Visually makes a difference if there is a cabin ...

Happy new year.
Not sure where to start here as I have never been on such a forum. So, I will start with I big hello. I am a total novice but discovered construction rc on youtube a year or so ago. Since then, I have been overcome with a desire to make a 1/18 excavator, the disadvantage about this is that I have to start with absolutely nothing. I know that I have to spend thousands of pounds and hours, (short on both)
Realistically a am 12months away from starting the build, I do have a decent size garage and a have a very good friend of mine who is very conversant with Solidworks and Alfacam who is willing to help me.
Really looking forward to start learning from you guys, I am am in awe of your commitment and attention to detail.
Once again big HELLO

I really like your excavator and I wanted to ask if you can buy drawings for you on this excavator. I really enjoy hydraulics. please contact me !! Thank you

Hello everyone

here is the last video from last year. I am currently revising the drive system and the entire hydraulic system. Drive is ready so far. Here I installed new brushless motors and adjusted the translation accordingly. Let's see how the drive performs in the field. With the hydraulic system, I switched from the triple pump to a single pump. And I have new valves for you. When the time comes, there will of course be information, pictures and videos again. I think the excavator should be fully operational again in the next few weeks.

Until then, have fun with the bridging video.

Amazing and crazy

Timberjack3000

Hello everyone

As promised, there is now a video of the new status. As already described, the excavator has received the following changes:

- Working pressure 60bar optionally 70bar

- One hydraulic pump (IPZ2HR7) instead of 3 pumps

- A new valve block (prototype from Schwab Präzision GmbH)

- New lines and connections

The drive now has two brushless motors instead of brushed motors and an adapted gearbox for a higher speed.

I have to optimize the drive a bit again, I'm not completely satisfied with that. I am now very satisfied with the hydraulics. Really a lot of strength and still potential for more. I also really like the controllability. The valves can be controlled very sensitively and have correspondingly large cross-sections.

Have fun watching.

Hello everyone

today I'll introduce you to my new drive system. After the conversion to brushless motors was quite disappointing, I decided to use brushed motors again. In terms of power, my first drive (brushed motors from Servonaut) was very good. Even the steep ramp up to the workbench wasn't a problem.

Now I have brushed motors from Dunker again. Namely the GR63x55 in the 12V version. I built a planetary gear in I = 3 directly on the motor. This is from ZD and runs really very easily and precisely with a very high degree of efficiency. After the planetary gear there is a worm gear with I = 7. On the one hand there is the 90 ° deflection and on the other hand it is self-locking. This means that I can simply park the excavator in any inclined position. After the worm gear, there is a 1: 2 reduction by means of spur gears. Then the wave goes "outside". Then you go to the Turas by means of a large link chain and I: 2.8. Thus the overall ratio is I = 117.6. Thanks to the enormously powerful Dunker motor with a nominal speed of 3000 rpm, the speed is now also suitable.

But what was the biggest point for me for this renewed conversion is the sensitivity of the drive under load. This was not possible with the brushless motors. And it is extremely important to be able to drive off very sensitively, especially on a steep ramp. The controller from Beier Electronics fits perfectly with these 12V brushed motors from Dunker. Approx. 35 to 40A are drawn under high load. The regulator can briefly up to 60A. Another nice side effect is that the controller hardly heats up and does not make any annoying noises like the brushless controller.

What was certainly very unfavorable for controlling the brushless motors is the electrical rotary feedthrough. Due to the long supply lines and the additional contact point at the rotary feedthrough, the controller cannot accurately determine the correct position of the motor and thus cannot optimally control the rotary field. This is completely irrelevant with the brushed motors.

So much for the background. Of course, I also made a new video. Have fun watching.

Awesome talent! Funny....I was reading the thread and wondering where this project is happening. Then I saw the package of laser cut cab parts....Cutworks.com. I went there.....German. Of course, I should have known!

Challenge: make a small diesel engine to drive a generator to run your machine. Then we'll see some sweet smelling diesel exhaust running up that nice smoke stack!

You can do it!

Where did you learn and practice such awesome design and fabrication skills? You are truly a craftsman and I would say even more of craftsman than your apparent age would allow! Very impressive work.

I have not watched your videos yet, but they are on my list. Awesome creation!

Hello Ben,

thank you for your nice comments. A small diesel engine is not possible because of not enough space and they have not engough torque at low rpm. But for smoke there are moduls availible, which will make it.
Before I studied mechanical engineer I have made an education for truck mechanic. But the most I have learned by doing.
