Thanks Brel and Lil Giants,
Designing and building this model was a long learning journey, but worth it all. And yes, operating it is a real pleasure albeit a bit tricky with the Dragline as I have both the drag and lift line controls on the right stick.
Have a GREAT DAY!

There are times when having a 3rd arm like Riza in MIB International would sure come in handy.

Like running an RC dragline, or when needing to hold 2 parts while applying glue to the joint, or....

Yep ddmckee54, a 3rd arm would be an interesting option, but I've learned to make due with 2 for 75 years!
Have a GREAT DAY!

Hi Tom what is the overall width on the tracks

tgglider
04-18-2022, 12:09 AM
Mikem,
The actual full size crane had two shoe width options: 36" and 42". My model is 1/12th scale (1" = 1') and the tread with of the model turns out to be 3.25", or midway between the actual crane's two available widths, or 39".
Thanks for the question.

Hi Tom sorry I worded it wrong the extreme width outside to outside of the tracks . Happy Easter Monday !

Mikem,
The model's OAW of the crawlers is 17", just slightly wider (@ scale) to the full size crane's 16' 10" width when fitted with the stone 36" wide shoes.

Hello, all. I purchased a set of Tom's plans and started gathering materials for the
mechanical build. The R/C part may (no, WILL) be a big learning curve. Just one step at a time, one catastrophe at a time!!
I'm wondering if anyone else out there has started work on this machine yet??

Jon,
Let me know how your build is going and how I might be able to assist you with the RC aspect of the model.
