So badass! Here's an idea I've been thinking of. Using a helicopter gyro to automatically level the blade no matter the angle of the ground/tires? One less thing to operate on that beast!

Even the dashboard looks amazing! Wow. Nice job on plumbing up the hydraulic lines! If I could pick a build of the year, this would be it!

I really like how fluid your 14m controls are when she comes to life and the footprints in the sand are pretty cool also. You nailed it... Very nicely done!

Grader looks great with the steering working. Sound unit in it also sounds very good and clear. Now all we need is some sand or dirt along with paint and you will have one very amazing project.

Just awesome, looks like its almost ready for the gps setup! Lol, are you going to add rippers to it at anytime? Looks like you don't have to worry to much about the front end being pushed out by the all wheel drivin rear! Great job!!

I had to get a new radio gear to get all the function work, so I went and bought this Graupner 12 channel radio. Those 12 channel will just be enough, but I can´t add any more functions like the ripper. I still have to add two more switches and the I can operate everything. Those self centering switches are quite handy to operate the hydraulic valves.

Wow! I've seen guys use fishnet stockings to paint fuel tanks for motorcyles. It gives the paint job a neat snake like scale look, but using screen or mesh to paint the seat is even better! Very cool. I might have to remember that, and try it in something.

Tamiya has translucent paint for exactly that purpose.
It tends to be darker once mounted than when spraying, so do not overdo it :)

The Cat decals are printed on this: http://www.bare-metal.com/Experts-Choice-Decal-Film.html
The warning stickers are from Fechtner-Modelibau: http://www.fechtner-modellbau.de/

This is truly an amazing build with a lot of detail and time put into it. With that being said now I have to be "that guy". Why with all of the detail that went into it why did you stop at the wheel fasteners and just use plain old lock nuts?

My plan was to make covers for the wheel hubs, but totally forget it:mad:
So it's back to the machine shop;)

The model seems to work as well as it looks!! I like the last video the best. That's just me personally, but you can see the whole machine and the work it is doing. I really like when it has a full blade with the sand rolling off the blade. Looks like a real machine. Great job!!

I would love to see a video where you show the full range of motion of all of the machine. I know you built a lot of the real functions into it. for instance does the blade shift side to side, do the front wheels tilt, does the cab and boom pivot for tighter steering etc...

Thanks, Again your machine is incredible.

WOW that works very well! Can you roll the blade forward some? That would work better for maintaining sand and gravel and the material won't collect on your blade.
Next test get it in some damp clay with the blade back like in the video and lean the wheels to keep the front end from sliding sideways.
Great job!!!!

So you are using Bf 20?

Are you pleased with it? Did you buy only the factory electronics or you also bought ballscrews?

Did you make hydraulic parts with it too?

I'm quite pleased with it, only sometimes I have hoped it to be a little bigger. I have ballscrews in all axis.
I only made the cylinders for the grader and there was some milling on them that I did with the BF20.

Great videos. It's very nice to see the model in action, after all the hard work that went into building it to such a realistic level of detail!

I guess I'm jumpin onto this pretty late ha..?

I've just spent hours reading through this build... what an absolute masterpiece...

I operate a 140M all day 6 days a week, and still love it... and had an idea of building an r/c one myself... I started to search around a bit and found this... after seing the quality and perfection you have acheived I've been left confused...

How can I get a flight to your house... quietly slip out the back gate, and get back home to Australia with that model before you notice..? I don't ever see myself being able to produce something like that...

which begs the question... if you have all the data required to cnc the components, would reproducing a kit ever be a reality..? or even a half kit, with the fundamentals, ie mainframe components and blade, less hydraulics and radio etc. I understand there must be hundreds of hours of hand work also... but I really want one just like yours...

wow... still blown away... that thing is the single best r/c model I have ever seen...

thanks for sharing... Luke...

It's a one off scratchbuilt by the OP, so no.

But there's a different one listed right now in the Buy and Sell, not far from where you live. ;)

This is outstanding build and craftsmanship , I'm new to this hobby but have spent many long hours in the seat of many CAT graders , first one was 120 last one was 14H , I'm 71yrs old and can tell you you handle that blade like your in the seat and the model is just outstanding.

You can see 3-videos put up by the builder "hemi" by going to YouTube and type in "scale r/c 14M grader". and they will come up.

Hi guys,
I recently started to build a new grader, this time the 14M3 model. There's not that much changes on the outside besides the front of the frame arc, and the longer engine compartment.

But my question is, should I start a new build thread for this one, or have you guys seen enough of 14M builds for now.

I can't use any of my old drawings and CAM programs as I'm using Fusion 360 now, and it can't open those. So basically every part must be designed and drawn again. Also I'm planning to use 3D printer (which I still do not own) on some parts.

Here's couple of teasers for you:

09-02-2018, 09:12 PM
I agree!! show us another one :) I don't know where I found it but you should be able to import almost any cad file into fusion, or on some add-ins may have a file translator. may need some tweaking but,,, then again I don't know what im talking about 3/4 of the time,,,, but things always are better the second time around !!
