A wonderful collection. Anyone that runs "The Texas Special" is very all-right with this Frisco nut! I model Frisco in HO scale during the orange & white diesel-era. All of your collection is first-class and I enjoy the combination of trains, trucks, or tractors.

Wow!, awesome accumulation of models Craig! I wish our tractor room still had that many pieces in it but seeing yours brings back some memories. And trains!!....looks like you've got all the bases covered when it comes to the different gauges.

Neat stuff! :)

Yeah we've still got quite a few between Dad and I. I don't really have many of the older pieces like he does, just a couple that I picked up at auctions here and there. He sold the bulk of his Deere stuff to a guy in Kansas City a few years back, all except most of the Precision Series pieces... he likes to use those as bargaining chips when he sees something rare at a show that's worth trading for. Although most of the implements we had are still stored away in the attic.

Now he's working on collecting most all of the Deere industrial yellow pieces like the skidder, loaders, grader, etc.

Great collection of red Precisions, Craig. I never thought I'd get into collecting the 1/16 scale models that much. When I was growing up, I stuck to the 1/64 scale machines, because they took up less space, but when I saw the 3688 2+2, I was hooked and now I have 7 of these Precision models. An 8th soon.

Thanks for sharing the photos. By the way, judging from the rain cap on the 1466, it looks like you forgot to shut her down, after making room for the new IHs! :D

Had to trade some green tractors to get the extra 1066 and the 1456 rops and fenders but is was well worth it to me.

kinda reminds me of my dad's old Cockshutt tractor when i was growing up. more so the fenders and lights.

also i have a 8588 rc from back in the early 80's. not sure where the remote is though. it goes forward all the time and you hit the one button on the remote to make it stop and reverse/turn.

Thank you, I really appreciate that! A couple weeks ago I added a couple of shelves, the Magnums now have their own home. At the time of these photos I had made room for the 5488 but it had not made it here yet.

Ben I do not own a GE locomotive in the whole collection. I have two Norfolk Southern GP60 and two Norfolk Southern SD70M-2 in O gauge and two Norfolk Southern SD70 MAC in G gauge. The two SD70MAC in G gauge are from USA Trains but are not really correct, first off Norfolk Southern never owned any SD70MAC locomotives, secondly they have the white above the windshield but no horse head logos in the NS on the side of the locomotive.

I have two of the Aristo-Craft SD45 locos in Santa Fe paint, I have had Phoenix Sound added to one of them. They make a nice smooth running locomotive. You will be happy with them.

do you have a g scale layout?

Claus
12-31-2010, 11:01 AM
do you have a g scale layout?

No, I don't. I either should have never bought the G gauge or had them on my shelve layout. A friend of mine had gotten into G gauge and I got sucked in. G gauge has good details and a lot of nice, heavy, modern freight but to do it right you need to build a garden railroad. Taken trains outside when I want to run them for an hour or so does not interest me and I have plenty of yard work as it is without adding a garden railroad to maintain. Some folks have beautiful garden layouts and enjoy them very much, it's just not my cup of tea. Occasionally I have set up a large loop running through the living room, dinning room and entry way but that's about it.
