I have been asked for years to build a street sweeper for the indy show. Recently seeing Fgd's post and learning about the vacuum system he used I have started mine. I do have the brushes already, which can off a 3 wheel street sweeper toy I bought at indy many years ago. I am building a regenerative air style street sweeper.

looks good so far ,but i think it will need a bigger bed to pick up all the rubber at indy!:eek:It was scattered all over:cool:

Will that be able to sweep up the rubber gravel used at shows?

currently it will blow rubber over the vac side. I have a lot of rubber like what is used at indy in my basement.

spent 7 hrs today on the street sweeper and it has failed to draw any suction. Back to drawing board later this week. I did manage to get the drive line and steering done.

Shouldn't the intake be opposite of what you show? I just realized that because my dust collector in my wood shop is set up with a centrifugal blower like you have there only bigger of course. You need to mount it to the collection hopper and the suction hose needs to go into that so the heavy material will settle out of the air steam and the exhaust will need a dust bag of some sort.
