Hey all,
in this thread I want to show you my second tractor. It´s a King Hauler, built with some left over parts.
First of all, I extendedthe frame by one tank-length.
http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/501/cimg0058i.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/407/cimg0058i.jpg/) Uploaded with ImageShack.us (http://imageshack.us)
This was just right to extend the sleeper by just cutting away the rear on one and the front on the other one!

After the sleeper was glued together and finished, I started to paint the whole cabin. First I liked the blue, but I´a m thinking about a different paint-scheme. I got some good Ideas here, let´s see!

The most important change on the boby was cutting away the original Tamiya frontlights and closing them with some plastic.
I replaced them with some frontlights from the Wedico Pete 359.

Then I built some mirror-holders by myself. Used some thin brass.tube, fatened at the ends, so I could drill the holes for the screws. The mirrors themselves are the original Tamiya ones.

Is it just me, or do I spy a line of TINY little LEDs along the top of the sleeper? Nice and neat.

I think the paint looks good. I was going ask about the LEDs on the sleeper too. There are quite a few of them! The mirror mounts look good too. I've got to try something like for my own trucks. It makes a huge difference!

You´re right, theres some LED´s along the sleeper. Add some power and they look like this:

The Truck is in pieces again. I will do a new paintscheme, before that correct some small scratches in the body. Pics will follow!

Just got back from the cellar after the 3rd paint-session! Now some small corrections, probably some decals and then clear-cote and I´am done with painting:):)!!
What do you think???

Well, clear-cote is applied and the truck looks very good with some chrome-parts on it:):)!!
Now I will do all the re-wirging for the lights and change some LED´s. I will also change the rear-fenders, don´t like `em anymore. Will look for some polished single-fenders, they will look much better!

Looks really good. There used to be a really great thread on how to construct your own Half radius fenders. Not sure it made it to this forum, but I think it was Espeefan who had posted the thread:confused:.

Truck looks GREAT:D:D I do agree that the rear fenders do not match the rest of the truck. Needs more bling in my opinion.

you should get some drive fenders off of S&P in the vendor section and paint them to match the rest of the truck. just a thought !

@Gun:

Thanks for the idea, but I think it will be too expensive to get the parts shipped over to north atlantic!!
And I will keep it like that: paint above frame level, frame level or lower: chrome or polished parts! Got a set of polished single-fenders from fechtner here in germany at a good price, they will be here next week!

Did a little bit of work on the tractor today, now the lights are back on!
I´am still waiting for the rear-fenders to finish the rear of the truck.

Got the rear-fenders on friday and started to attach them to the truck yesterday.
The mirror-holders from tamiya are very helpful....!!

how did you get rid of the headlight off the fenders? you just shave it off or how can I do that to get my fenders like yours?

kaipi0070
12-03-2012, 10:55 AM
Yes, Ijust cut the away and then put some plastic on the inside of the fender. Finally I filled some plastic in the hole, the remaining gaps got filled with some putty.
