I have i'm sure a really dumb question but how do you use a Tamiya front wheel on a driven front axle? Im using TLT 1 axles and I want to use Tamiya Semi front wheels on the driven axles. Is there an adapter you need or do i need to use a rear style wheel on all axles, front and rear?

You can use the inside rear rim. But if you want to run the front rim Ric from PMD has round pin drives to go in them. You can also have ihbuilder make you a set.

Rear rims used as fronts.

Tricky thing here is I have 4 driven axles. 8x8. The first 2 will be steering also so width is going to come into play. Havent gotten that far into this build yet to measure and I'm just playing it by ear just yet. I am in the design/plan/parts gathering stage.
again , thanks for the help Travis.

I did see that. As I said I still need to take quite a few dimensions still and don't know if that is an option.
I did not see the pin drives on PMD Travis so if you have some more info I would love to see it. thanks guys for the help. Did get my drive shafts today.
I also had to get frame rails from PMD. I was talking to FGD and in the process of telling him what I wanted , and then unfortunately we all know what has happened since then.

Ric is not the best at having everything on his website. Best thing to do is call him up and ask. :) I know that is old school they way kids use texts and internet these days but Ric runs his operation out of the shop in his house so he answers the phone himself.

Thanks Wraith. i will try that. Yeah my son can text 10 faster than i can even type. LOL.
I am really begining to hare the tag "old school". makes everything we do the same way it was always done sound like it is sensless to do it that way.

Greg here are some pics of the round pin drives from PMD that allow you to use the stock front rims.

I see Travis. Interesting but I have the solution to this problem.
I bought wheels from Robbe for their Panther vehicle. These are a military wheel which is better for this project anyway. The only thin is they take 8 mm wheel washers as they call them. I overcame that obstacle buy getting some 5/16th aluminum hex stand offs. i will cut these down to size, drill and tap for a grub screw.Done.
Very soon I can start construction. As I do I will post some pics in the proper section of the forum. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, You all have been a great help and I''m sure I'll have more questions.

Is the Panther rims the same as the Hummer?

If so, they are a larger diameter & won't fit the regular the semi trk tire. You'll need tires like these.

No they are a little different than those wheels. I already have tires that fit and will be using them. So all is good for now. Thanks.
