http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j436/1985kenworth/SSPX3766.jpgit will be a long one if i use a scale trailer the size of izzy's cattle trailer i measured it and it will be 4" shy of the 6ft mark give or take as the fifth wheel is not mounted yet:D

Gonna be sweet when done. The PMD sections seem to keep the rails nice and true. I'll get some now.

they work great this is my third set as long as you file the frame ends straight where you cut them i usually measure by the bolt that goes in the top of the framethrough to the extension.i prefer these over getting a custom frame that you have to drill all of the holes in yourself all of my work is done by basic hand tools dremel ,drill are the only power tools i use.

03-19-2012, 08:32 PM
the other thing is they don't make the frame sag if its done right and they are strong i put the trailer i bought from travis on both trucks with extensions and that trailer is heavy and they didn't bend even going over uneven ground:D

Oooooh I'm going to watch this one!I love cab overs! How long are those rails?

1985 kenworth
04-07-2012, 02:44 PM
not sure but they are the king hauler rails with a 3' extension from pmd

1985 kenworth
04-07-2012, 02:45 PM
actually you got me curious so i just measured it and it looks to be 27 3/4 " long tip to tip

That is a nice length for the chassis especially for a cabover and I always low and long the only way to roll...

here are some updates on this build

1985 kenworth
04-08-2012, 03:04 PM
http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j436/1985kenworth/SSPX3936.jpghad to drill and tap the frame to install the fuel tanks and battery holder from the knight hauler because when the drome box is installed behind the cab there will be no access to the inside battery compartment

1985 kenworth
04-08-2012, 03:05 PM
http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j436/1985kenworth/SSPX3937.jpghad to notch the battery holder because of the angle of the driveshaft

1985 kenworth
04-08-2012, 03:07 PM
http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j436/1985kenworth/SSPX3942.jpgdrilled and tapped the frame so the base for the cab is installed and ready for the mfu components

awsome prgress so far! i love the idea of using the haulers battery box to relocate it. And yes for adding more pics i just open 2 windows, one with photobucket and one for the forum, copy/paste. just hit enter to drop down to the next line, or type your text for that photo hit enter anc paste the next photo.. im gonna watch this build!! I love cabovers but i love the moving trucks. I got plans for one from united van lines thats got a crazy stretched sleeper and boxes.. but that build is a ways off yet. Cant wait to see more!!

Sorry Not trying to hijack your thread..

The box you have your MFU controls in, is that the hauler steps? I am looking for a way to mount mine without it sitting on top of my frame.

1985 kenworth
04-10-2012, 08:25 PM
yes its the king hauler steps .i was going to use the fuel tanks and battery box from the aeromax and mount the mfu switch in the bottom of the aeromax fuel tank which is where it mounts when you build that truck but i like the chrome ones from the knight hauler much better

http://i1085.photobucket.com/albums/j436/1985kenworth/SSPX4035.jpghere is the frame for the drome box .i used the top and bottom rails from the tamiya box trailer and the doors.normally drome boxes open only on the right side for curbside loading but i an=m putting one door on both sides because you never know which side of the street you will need to park on.now to add the panels then off to the paint shop:D:D

Your color choice looks familiar....isn't it the same as your real truck you had at the Clifford show? Looks great man! I was on the fence about buying another king hauler or a globe liner but after seeing how these cab overs look, my next truck will be a Cab over for sure.

Matching trailer would deffinitaly look sweet! One of Izzy's toy haulers (which are close to the moving trucks) would look killer behind it!

usually the doors for the drome box are on the right side for curbside loading but i decided to put one on either side which will make the truck more versatile ...cuz you just never know which side of the street you will be loading from
