Hi guys,

I’ve had two different teams design a logo for the new business and am looking for some feedback.

A little background on the name (for those who are trying to get some sleep ☺)
The name is Oreology – For those who may be thinking ‘What the heck is Oreology’ it’s sort of a made up word. An ore is a rock or medium which has minerals and such embedded inside.

To earn the name of ‘ore, one has to get around town and know (in the biblical sense) many men ☺ just kidding, though seriously, I want my counter where the staff serve people to be called the ORE HOUSE ☺.
Where was I, oh yes, to be an ore, the rock should yield its minerals with minimal effort during processing – or something like that.

And –ology is the study of something. So 'Oreology' means the study of rocks and the insides.

The scientific community already has words for this, Geology is the most general and blanket term, though more specific to my intended meaning would be gemology, mineralogy or Petrology. There is a similar word Orology, which translates to the study of mountains or an orogeny.

The sub heading is ‘Little Big Mining’

What is the business?

To quote myself from my intro post;
“I'm sure one or all of you have had this idea before. What I want to set up is a scale open-pit mine where people can come from afar to try their luck in the mines. There'll be rewards scattered through the dirt (or other medium) where users will dig, load, transport and sift to get there hands on it (all controlled via r/c).”

Ok here are the concepts.

I wish I knew how to work that poll option ☹ Let me know what you guys think.

Im going with either option 1 or option 4. Either one with the duel buckets looks kool to me, I'm kind of a symetrical guy. Between those two I say #4.

I like #4 and #9, but #9 looks really good to me for some reason and is my favorite.

I also agree that i thought this thread may have something to do with the study of Oreo cookies.

Thanks for your feedback so far everyone!

Hahaha, you guys are absolutely right - And I did consider the possibility of confusion with the cookies and decided a) if the name makes people remember OREO than I'd say it's is a good thing - due to Oreo's high reputation b) It could only bring more wayward customers through the doors - they might be expecting to find some sort of cookie-cult, But I'm sure they'll be pleasantly surprised when they see what's really going on inside.

OREO - I suppose you could think of it as an ore.. A hard medium encapsulating a creamy treasure inside.

I guess we'll have to keep a stockpile :)

Cheer's, Neil. Talk about a slow comeback... I've got nothing :o

Here's a little tally of the results so far;

1: 4 votes
2: 1 vote
4: 4 votes
9: 2 votes

And I have a confession :) half of them are designed by me. I didn't and won't mention which ones yet to avoid any bias. I can tell you that the one's I had the professionals working on have been sent back to the drawing board.

Hopefully the jury is still out and loads of you were thinking about it all weekend trying to decide on which one you like best :P
Don't make me start bribing for your thoughts with Oreos!!

And thanks again to all for the feedback thus far.
