i used to think my truck is customized, but after seeing some of the beautiful, true customizing guy's are doing with chopping, stretching and duplicating actual trucks I came to realize my truck is " personalized " . I've enjoyed every moment up till now and hope to start learning how to build a true customized rig in the future.

Nice truck you got! I was eying one of the metallic kits the other day. Yours turned out very nice!

The Finnish on this truck is flawless. I was quite impressed. What drew me to the metallic edition was the lack of major painting required...the draw back is the inability to cut or modify the body and not hide modifications......hmmmm sounds like a good challenge, chop, lower and stretch a king hauler metallic edition with flawless finish, no cuts showing.
How do I buy just the metallic body shell?

Supermario, that sure is a lot of bling:eek: Look's sharp. I noticed in #4 pic, the front wheel look's different. I like it for a future project I have in mind. Where did you get them, and do you have rears to match? Now go save the princess lol.

Thanx, Big John

yes, rims in pic 4 are different.got them from RC damper. a five spoke style, rear rims look wicked, front ones are bland.... i actually added the wheel lugs you see. i used 2 mm nuts and glued to rim and it looks good. my biggest problem was it made the truck look more " RC " than "semi truck". i use the rear rims on my trailer, fronts sit in my spare parts box now i bought the transport truck type rims. Also changed the front tires, they looked too much like " drive tires" and replaced with a " steer tire " from Ric Murphy.

Thanks Swagger, glad you like it. When I first started the build , as i opened the box full of chrome that blinded me for a second.....lol.......I was considering painting stuff like the marker lights, horns ,air cleaners , visor in flat black as a contrast. But I put it all together and looking at it in person is way better than pictures can show. The entire body is like a mirror and it reflects everything in the room. From different angles the truck lights up differently, the top of sleeper and hood can be a dark mirror look while the sides are light and bright. The chrome actually highlights truck body lines and details more than hide with bright shiny bling.
Conclusion..... Enough bling will create blang ? Lol....

Well, as much as i hated having to take my truck half apart, after i had all the wiring looking and sitting perfectly. I was anxious to install my new 4:1 gear reduction and new fuel tanks from PMD. As a matter of fact about 75% of the items added to the truck is from PMD. I love Ric's site!! The new drive is awsome and was well worth the wait.
I was having so much fun I almost for got to take some pics before reassembly.... Todays project, get er back together and take for a test run

here she is after reassembly....

I want to thank everyone who use's this forum, it has been a great help to me. Just yesterday i was reading a few threads and discovered that the 5th wheel switch effects the power delivered to the motor through the MFU..... I had never bothered to install the switch originally because i thought it was for sound effects only. Seeing as my truck was all apart when i discovered this info, i took the time to install and to my amazement, it does make a difference! Thanks again guys!

So here is my chance to share some info / insight of my own..... If anyone out there is thinking bout buying a 4:1 gear reduction drive for their truck, go for it!...money well spent i say!
My truck can now be driven slow, smooth and with tons of torque. Can drive from a smooth to rough or bumpy surface without having to drastically change throttle position. And in the future, if i want all that crazy speed back, it's real eazy to remove unit and reinstall original driveline!......way, way in the future. No plans to do so but nice to know that no original parts are damaged or modified for installation.

So check out the video of " King of bling hauler " with new reduction drive...

Glad you enjoyed the vids. I love the 4:1 , very happy with it. The difference is amazing. The truck is much more controllable. Slow, smooth power with lots of torque. You can drive on a smooth to bumpy or rough terrain without having to give more throttle. You may have noticed how slow I was moving in the video, that was second gear and just easing the stick forward.

Another thing I like is the fact that all you do is drill 2 holes in the frame rails, that's it no mods no grinding. If you ever want to go back to that super crazy speed you can, just remove drive and install original driveshaft which can be done in less than 30 minutes..

4:1 = money well spent.

Really love the video, super bling.:D I've been thinking of getting a 4:1 myself, after all the hard work of building and detailing I want slow.:p
Not to hijack your thread, I had a metallic king, and I sent it to a guy that made a peterbilt 379-X for me. Well he screwed me out of it and some other things, and all together I was screwed out of between $10 and $12,000.00.
Lesson learned, keep track of everything...I thought he was a friend.

Hello all ,

I must now proclaim my first rc semi complete.... sure, there's always something else to add or change but I realize my truck and trailer, with all the extra's ( from arizona, hong kong , germany ) cost me just under $2,000 grand total.... So instead of investing more in "Super Bling" , I'm buying another truck this fall to build next winter.
I plan on another KH but it will be the total opposite to Super Bling. All black, zero bling. Nothing but gloss and flat black with a few chrome hilights ( fuel tank straps, battery box black with chrome steps, air cleaner straps chrome.....)

So here's the last pics of the Super Bling build. I'm working on building a road in my back yard to film some video's of the truck doing what I intended it for......HAUL BEER! Video's coming soon! Thanks for lookin.

Well, after being at work for 2 weeks, finally home and some new parts have arrived.....so as much as I didnt want to, i bit the bullet and completely disassembled my truck, again. This time was the most extreme. Stripped right down to frame rails. The reason for such insanity is for the frame rail extensions i bought from PMD, custom aluminium cross members, motorized support legs servo, rewire and reorganize sleeper area to fit the MFU, my new TX board for wireless trailer lights and a mini smoke generator which plugs directly into mfu in place of shaker motor. I hope it all fits because I also have a set of John's custom mitred stacks coming which will look great with smoke coming out:). Anyway, enough talk. Here's some pics.

LOL, how true. It's all about the emissions nowdays. The electronic engines of today can create so much horsepower but are set low to meet emissions....no more pulling out your fuel injection pump rack tooling and " turning things up a bit". :)

Not sure if the smoke generator is going to stay on my truck, I've heard reports that the smoke can leave an oily residue and if true......if I get one microscopic drop of the stuff on Super Bling, thats it, smoke will be gone!

got some more done on Super Bling today. Deceided to start laying out how things are going to fit in the sleeper.

something like this.....

http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r620/Kinghauler2012/My%20RC%20truck%20pics%20and%20vids/sleepermockup.jpg

then an idea came to mind. I want to be able to remove the battery without having to move or disconnect stuff so , using nothing but leftovers from my trailer, I made a rack and shelf out of the vertical stake from the flatbed and remnants of the front plate.

http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r620/Kinghauler2012/My%20RC%20truck%20pics%20and%20vids/shelfinsleeper.jpg

its not the best looking but , it works!
Also, after almost 4 hrs of work I got a deck plate made for the 5th wheel servo. Unfortunately the plate i had to work with was not long enough to cover entire deck so I installed the original to fill it in for now. Wow, there is not much room for error when installing that servo! Turned out that the frame rail extension mounting bolts are right where the servo needs to be. It took alot of trimming and grinding to get it in there!

Thanks for the heads up. This smoke generator thing is a experiment. The cons are: white smoke not black , leaves a oily residue , lack of durability . The pros are: ????? Haven't found one yet. Maybe that's why I don't see many trucks with smoke? Come to think of it, today's electronic engines don't smoke! .......Atention ! Smoke generator for sale ! Never used! Lol

Thanks dmess62. I agree. Both truck and trailer are a little short coming from tamiya. The trailer was just too short and the truck cab looks way too big for the frame. Now with the stretch, things are actually normal lookin. I'm not complaining bout tamiya , I think they hit marketing genius with the king hauler. Hey Snochaser, I made the air hose's from 20 gage solid copper core wire which I wrapped tightly around a steel rod ( the rod was actually the leftover piece of driveshaft from my PMD driveline I ordered when I stretched the truck. )
The glad handles are cotter pins which I cut the ends off, pinched the wire core into and soldered. I was considering making a connection point on the trailer to hook them too when I realized, I just spent a pile of time and money eliminating connections and installing a wireless light kit and now I'm adding wires back on the trailer??? Lol. I may still do it, real easy to do.

Hey hippy , no smoke yet. After almost 2weeks of my truck and trailer being tore apart on the workbench, I'm happy to see it together again and just want to enjoy it for awhile and admire the " bling " before i complete the smoker install. The unit is in the truck, just need to find some tubing and a way to connect to the stacks. Also need to figure out a way to fill the unit with oil without having to remove the body everytime. lookin good cant wait to see the reefer trailer hooked to it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Spudd! I can't wait either. I think it's going to look wicked! I've got a bit of a surprise also. I bought a tanker trailer and should have it complete today. It looks great behind the truck. A shiny truck needs shiny trailers and your reefer plus this tanker make a great set! Looks like a sunny day today, will try and post pics.

That tanker looks right at home behind king bling! That setup looks Sweet!

thanks dabears , i knew the tanker would look good but hummed and haaawed about the cost for along time. But then one day tower hobbies had a promo deal on , plus I'm a member so managed to knock almost 75 bucks off so that was enough to get me to buy it and now that it's together and hooked to the truck....I'm very happy with my choice.
I ordered another wireless light kit for it and motorized legs. 8 extra marker lights / 4 per side. Have plans for a custom Decal for truck and tanker. The ying and yang symbol that swagger brout up a few months ago on this thread. anyway, thats it for now. Thanks for lookin man.

Do you carry your truck with cloth gloves? Not a single smudge or finger print

Hey Aaron. I wear laytex gloves not cloth.:D:D .....seriously, everytime after running the truck or doing repairs I use a swiffer duster to remove any large particles and then use the polishing cloth that came with the truck to remove prints and smudges. When not in use, I store the truck in a large tote box. All my orders from tower hobbies come with " air bag " type packing. I saved it all and surround the truck with it in the tote. The truck is nice and snug and safe inside. No dust, no damage. Im always very careful and cautious when handling the truck...... Can you say... " anal " ..... Yes I am !
Did I ever mention the fact that I armor all the tires on a regular basis?

Well after all the fun of the indy show and now my wifes truck arriving the same day we got back from the show, I totally forgot to post pics of King of bling hooked up to my new custom reefer done by Spudd. ( my apoligies dude !:o:o ) My trailer fleet is almost complete. I have the reefer and tanker which add to the Bling of the truck. For the King effect, my stretched flatbed which was my first official attempt at " no instructions included " type build for haulin beer cans in my back yard and now as of yesterday. I bought a 3 axle lowboy trailer to haul equipment around at next years indy show:cool::cool::D

So heres some pics of King with the new reefer. Thanks for looking :)

Glad you like, some of us are decent builders but cant paint worth a @$%^ if our lives depened on it.... so when i saw the chrome body i was sold. I got it from Towerhobbies.com. a company in illinois.

been into this hobby since last xmas and in all that time ive seen 2 other chrome kings on youtube, none on this site. Most guys on the forum had seen pics of one and thought it was too much. if you read my thread, you'll see alot of guys have changed their opinion of the metallic edition.....or maybe just being nice....:):):)

Hey terry. Already got that taken care of. I have a cat dozer from Bruder on order for it. It's not a true lowboy with detach gooseneck.....funny story actually. Susan was asking about what sites to look at for truck parts and I mentioned rc4wd. To be honest, I had yet to go to the site myself:o:o. So, after telling her bout it....I checked it out and bought what we call in my neck of the woods a " beaver tail " trailer but with no ramps . I've loaded equipment many times years ago on these trailers and scared myself everytime!....stories for next year I can tell ya.
Anyway, funny how Susan is looking to buy parts for her truck and I end up buying for mine..... I gotta quit helping her look for stuff already. This is gonna get real expensive real quick:eek::eek::eek::eek:
