I got on the board today, and noticed the green box below my join date is red. And it say's glorydays24 can only hope to improve.:( Did I make someone PO'D? If I did, and I don't see how, please let me know so we can get this resolved. I thought I was doing pretty good on the board, and I really hate to think that I made someone upset.

Thankyou, Big John

Well, I have checked through the forum and noticed that just about everyone here has a green box. I found one with a grey box and just over 100 post count so I thought maybe it was grey with a low count, green with a med. count and maybe red with higher count. Then I noticed that mine is green and I dont even have 100 yet so that blows my idea outa the water. It does kinda make ya wonder though...... and its something to talk about as well...

I think the red box means if this board was a large game of tag....."YOUR IT"

That is weird!! I looked on the members list and your the only red 2 are grey and rest are green in the "reputation?" list... What is the reputation thing for? How does it work?

That's really odd Big John. After reading Travis' explanation of what that is, I am familiar with the system from another forum, (albeit a slightly different format) that I am a member of, but that was a Karma system with a green smiley face for positive karma or a red angry face for negative karma. People can add or subtract karma points for being helpful or sharing something etc or take away for being a *"!*

As far as I can see you are a pleasant, polite, positive guy and I can't see any reason for malicious intent here, it has to be a mistake or an accident. I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe an admin can investigate it for you and either explain the situation or fix it for you. Keep the chin up buddy.

EDIT: If it helps any, I clicked on the scales beside your post above and added positive reputation. If enough people to that to your posts, you should be back on track.

As did I GD24.... I have never even noticed the scales before and assumed that the green dots were something to do with number of posts. I learded something new today...

You start out with very few points so it does not take a lot to drop one level. I can not justify raising John back up just because I can. I can add or subtract as many points as I want as an admin but a registered user can only add or subtract the limit of your reputation power. Members have the right to use the rep system and you may not always agree with there decision.

Now if someone were abusing the rep system and yes I can see who left per points then I will step in and fix the problem and the trouble maker wont like it.

Rep point can be given or taken away for multiple reasons. You could get + points for helping another member and them thanking you or get - point for post whoring such as not using multi quote and replying to multiple replies individually. You could even get - points for using unsuitable language in a post.

I look at the rep points as how useful members find your post to the forum and others will have different opinions it is just all in how you look at it.

A BIG THANKYOU TO ALL!!! As I have said in the past, I love this board and the people here. I've made some friends along the way, and hope to make more as time goes on. And hopfully make it to Indy this years to shake some hands, and have a good time. Now with that been said, I was working on the kiss truck today, and for the first time, my heart just wasn't into it. I'll post pic's here shortly. I still don't understand why I got such a negative from the person or persons? I try to treat everyone the way I want to be treated, with respect, and like a person.

Thankyou, Big John

Not to hi-jack but I very rarely use my actual computer anymore and i liked the system however never really used it, and now i noticed that I am unable to use the system from my I-pad and I-phone. Is there any way to allow that to work from mobile platforms or is it just land based only? Thanks for any help

--Dan

Cancel that I see now that the little weights will work from my I-pad just not my phone. I'll have to give it a try again later after I update my phone and see if it works

i learned some thing that i didnt know worked against me (ignorance of the law). i havent multi quoted because i never took the time to figure out how and that was post whoring to admin. In quess i need to read more.

i think this speaks highly of the people on this forum. there not interested in all that who did what and the games people play. They come for love of the Equipment and have PRIDE in Their work and reputation.

Well John, at least you are back in the green and we have all learned something. I don't really value the status so much. I found on the other forum I mentioned, which was a sports car club, people got way too hung up on that and there was a terrible hierarchy. I like it here, where people don't look down on people over post count etc, but it is nice to able to reward someone in some way for their help.

Thanks also to Travis for making it all very clear.

So in checking this out - I was curious about seeing my own Reputation...
I found out if you click the Reputation box for one of your own posts it will show you your current points. (I have 10.. I assume that is where I started at)

Did you happen to check out your points Big John before you were elevated to Green block status?

I also noticed it allows for a comment.... Where do these go? Does anyone Know?

Mack kid, multi quote is easy. Start with the first quote, click on the multi quote on all you want to respond to, and on the next, and so on. then on the last one click on quote, and it will bring all of them up at once. Hope this helps.:D

Jeff, I have not checked my points in quite some time. The last time I looked, I had 13, or 16 points. But when I saw I was in the red, I believe I had -32 points. That's why I brought this thread up.:eek::eek: I just didn't know why.:confused:

Here is how the reputation system works.

Upon registration new users shall receive 10 reputation points.

Your reputation power starts at 0.

For every 365 days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

For every 1000 posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

For every 50 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

A user must have 10 reputation points before their reputation hits count on others.

A user must have 50 posts before their reputation hits count on others.

A user can give 10 reputation clicks over each 24 hour period.

A user must give reputation to 20 different users before they can hit the same person again.

The last 5 ratings will be displayed in the user's control panel. If a comment is left it will be displayed as well.

i just build and post pics of it :D and try to help out when i can! love the hobby could care less about any "points" unless i win some free parts for my builds..... HAHA do we?? J/K I do like the idea behind the ability of being able to "thank" someone for their post or show them apreciation for their hard and stunning work.
