Well finally got some time to tear down my truck to start building my first custom truck. This is what I'm shooting for

http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/BWS4378.jpg

Hopefully I can get it close. Here's where I'm at so far.
I got some frame rails cut and most of the holes drilled and tapped, and in roller form.

http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/IMAG0043.jpg

I picked up a PMD front bumper in Indy and put it on. I also moved the front axle forward per John Stylin and Profilins . I think I may need to move it forward some more. Not sure yet

http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/IMAG0047.jpg

I also may cut a little more off the back of the frame. when I was drilling it out I forgot to move the rear axlles back. I'll have to see once I get to putting a bumper/lightbar on.
http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/IMAG0048.jpg

The cab in these pics is the stock cab just sitting on the frame for now to give some reference. I've got another one that already has gone under the knife, and the dremel, ans the saw. LOL

This will probably be an all winter project as time and $$ are two things on short demand.
Let me know what you guys think. Any constructive criticism is welcome

Thanks for the info on the paint. After I saw a video of this truck I fell in love with it, but I've had a hard time finding very many pics to use for references

Thanks John, I slid it up past the pin in the center of the springs, I'll try sliding it some more to see how it looks

Dave - if your interested - I slid my front axel forward on my day cab just like you did. But then added the little chain "hooks" that come in the flat bed kit, just on the front side of the axel between it and the spring to act as a wedge to correct for the spring arch.

Well I got some goodies in the mail, and some small progress

http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/IMAG0056.jpg

http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/IMAG0055.jpg

I got the new sides on the hood
http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/IMAG0057.jpg

I changed the angle of the windshield

http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/IMAG0060.jpg

And I cut around the top of the cab to raise the back up to get a little more of a Pete look
http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/IMAG0061.jpg

http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/IMAG0062.jpg

I wasn't happy with the way the top of the cab came out above the windshield, so I'm in thprocess of changing it a bit.

And I addaded some styrene to the top of the sleeper to give a more rounded contour once I sand it down.
http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/IMAG0058.jpg

That's all for now, let me know what you think.

The 1:1 Peterbilt looks really nice. You have good taste. Nice work on the model so far. I'm curious to see how the cab turns out. I like that you are putting in some extra work to make it more authentic. Keep going.

Time for a small update.

Shot some primer on the sleeper to see how much sanding I still need to do.....Holy cow. All the little spots are magnified.

http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s519/dmess62/IMAG0083_zpsf993e0ed.jpg.

Also got the motor/trans and 5th wheel mounted. Then moved the front axle forward some more. Gonna have to mount the shock tower mounts at an angle to to keep the function of them. here's a couple pics

Haven't had much time lately to work on the truck, but was able to get a little bit done. Still ongoing body work. Got the motor/trans, and cab floor mounted. I couldn't resist a little mock up to see what it might look like.

understatement of the year! i found that out for a few months on mine! just remember, more time now makes prettier truck later!

Gonna have to mount the shock tower mounts at an angle to to keep the function of them.

the 1:1 Petes are like than too, call it another scale touch!

it does seem a bit high, but you can tweek it with shims under the cab, or matching the cab roof to it. it doesnt look bad like that tho either.

keep up the good work! she'll be a beaut for sure!

Had to dust this off for a small update.

I cut down the height of the sleeper, got the hood glued back on.
The weather wasn't cooperating to try and get any body work done. Seems like all I do is fill and sand, then repeat.
Got a package in the mail the other day...Steve's A/C's, these are nice. I had to put them on and see what it looked like.

Thanks it's been some trial and a lot of error. I am trying to resist the urge to rush through it to get it done, then not be happy with it. There's a lot of good info from other members builds on here that helps out alot

Well being that I don't drink anymore I figured I'd stay home and work on the truck some. So what better way to bring in the new year than with a small update. I got Russ's steps and John's stacks mounted. I also am using Paul/Russ's stack relocation brackets. Russ sugessted using 1/8 in flat stock to mount the steps. After trying to figure out how to get the heigth of the step right, the answer was in front of me with the stack relocation bkt. I drilled 2 holes to mount the flat stock to the frame, then drilled two lines of vertical holes in it and filed the parts in between to give me 2 long holes so when I mounted the steps tho the flat stock it gives me the ability to adjust the heigth of the steps. Also got Steve's a/c's mounted
