Does anyone know where to get the lead balls thats some modellers put into there wheels?

Thanks i was watching a youtube video and thetyre has really small lead balls in the tyre

They are most likely using lead shot for reloading shot gun shells. Lead shot is getting harder and more expensive to get. I just use regular BB's.

The BB's will work but the link to the lead is buck shot which is going to be a bit large to put in a wheel. Cabals does sell #4 Nickel-Plated Lead Shot but it is $5 a pound. You can get a 6000 count bottle of BB's for $15 and have enough for a stock Tamiya truck

I guess you just fill them all the way, so they don't rattle. Interesting way to add weight.. :D

When I have weighted my KH and R620 rear tyres, I got a roll of Lead roof flashing, sliced it while on the roll into 12-15mm thick strips and then just rolled it into the wheel. No noise of the balls moving around and easy to get the trye on without them falling off, and if you dont wrap up hard you can still have get a little bit of give out of the side walls of the tyres. Different concepot, hope it helps.

Also have used fishing sinkers in the past, if I remember correctly #3 Round first and then infill with #5, but now it will be lead flashing all the way!

Thanks for the help :) i might try the lead rolled up in the wheel but would it not stiffen the tyre up?

LEad rolled up - Dont start the first loop tight against the outer rubber, give it a couple of mm and this will leave some space for the tyre to deform. Works a treat, also when using lead shot or round sinkers you reqlly have to fill them up to stop them moving around and making noice, meaning you also lose the give in the side walls. Good luck.

thats what i used. these are very small so not many air pockets.

or you can also get lead solder if you want to melt it to shape easier
