Well this is my first tilt nose Pete I'm doing so we will see how it goes. LOL. I started with a set of FGD rails and tapered the rear section, used PMD cross members and Russ's air ride with the new bags.

Gonna be awesome, I've ordered SnP fenders for my next build, that's going to be built in England. Look forward to seeing the process of this. Great work

Thanks Sharkey, John's fenders are awesome.

Ummmm, where is the " other motor"going to sit? Something like what TC did with his cab over where the motor is above the tranny instead of off the end?

Thanks Mario, I'm still or working on the trans issue. I want 4:1, and still plan on an MFU and possibly a wet kit, so I may take the easy road and do a R2 coupled with a PMD or Integy. Saving lots of room for the rest of the electronics.

Great idea Keith but when all is said and done will the hood clear the cab when you tip it forward, that is the object of the J hooks that hold the front of the the hood to the frame. As you raise the hood it moves the hood forward so it will clear the cab with the tails of the hood without hitting it. Ed

I see what you mean about the swing radius of the hood and why all the tilt hoods I've seen have that j hook style hinge.

I wonder if there is enough room to cut a horizontal J or more like a L slot in the frame mounting plate so from the closed position you could lift then pull the hood forward, then tilt?

I'm still a novice in the hobby but after what I've seen on this forum I am sold on a tilt hood and detailed engine bay. Someday....

Thanks Mario, yeah it worked well with the single pivot point.

Ed, the hood does clear when tilting. I moved the pivot point up as far as possible to avoid binding at the cab. I also put a slight slope or tilt on the btm of the hood extensions to avoid binding.

Having said that, I see what you mean about the "J" hinges. That style would be the ticket. Next one, LOL.

The only guy I've ever seen build a tilting hood with the real J brackets is Dreamweaver. Everyone else uses regular panio hinge, just like that, and no one seems to have any problems opening their hoods. That looks like it works just fine, and it looks good too!

Yeah, I am going to leave this one the way it is as it opens and closes fine. I arched the btm hood extension like the real 1:1 Petes and it seems to work good. I did make a "J" hook hinge set that works pretty good but I will leave it for the next truck.

Nice job on the hinges. Mike (Dreamweaver) did a great job on the J Pete hinges. I have used the small brass ones from Lowes (I got lazy with that) on all 4 of my Pete builds. I have had no problems either. Keep up the great work!

For now I went the easyway out, and used a R2 trans. But I did add a 4:1 at least. I am trying to keep as much room as possible in the cab for MFU, light controls and a wet kit.

Nice work, Kaf! I like how you fit the Cat engine, and figured out your steering, with a relocated servo. Just a little suggestion for you though. On the bell crank beneath the engine, for steering, I'd try to find a way to use a rod end with metal swivel ball so that your steering doesn't get all sloppy. I'd also put one on the servo.

Thanks Brian, Yes its a 389 I believe. I shot this truck at my buddies shop where he was repairing a car carrier that was only three months old and the driver who never even scratched a bumper hit a base of a light pole in a snow covered parking lot. it just about ripped the front axle out of it. For me it was awesome to see the truck up close as I have no experiance what so ever with these rigs as far as 1:1's go.

Nice. This one just keeps getting better and better. Brian's grilles are so nice. Are you going to hang onto this one, or sell it, like so many of your other trucks?

Thanks Nathen, yeah his grilles are awesome. This is the first one I sanded, formed a little and polished and what an awesome grille. I'm thinking I may end up keeping this one, I just bought an end dump to tag along so we will see.

Keith, it's a perfect paint job. Very clean color breaks, and I know I'd be pretty apprehensive about painting an extra pin stripe like you decided to do too. Especially after the color separations ended up being so clean the first go around. Heck, I can't even paint single colors as nice as you can do a multi-color scheme. Really nice work. I had thought about doing some kind of under cab lighting on my KW, sort of like you did with the sleeper, but with a few more lights. Nice touch.

Thanks Nathen,

I was a little nervous about touching the paint, so I cheated and did this with 1/16" pin stripe tape. Looks pretty good. I have a buddy who pin stripes all my Harleys and Choppers that I build who has an amising hand, I may let him have a go at this one. we'll see. As soon as I finish the front of the lighting I will be adding a few more lights for some underglow effect. Not to many! hopefully just enough. Are you talking about your 1950 KW adding lights?

Those rims are beautiful. I don't think many guys put them on their trailers! Nice touch. I don't know much about the seaboard material, but perhaps a primer for hard plastics would do the trick? That's pretty sweet, but now your truck looks so naked without any chicken lights! :D

Yeah I have to work on that, there is only about 60 on the truck.

Hey kaf the truck looks even better in person. I saw it at the eclc show last weekend, I wanted to see you and introduce myself but I wasn't sure who u were LOL. I only came for half an hour to buy parts and check the trucks out and then I split.

Thanks again Tony, it was great meeting you as well. And it was great seeing your rigs, I've been admiring them in all the show pics and to finally see them was a treat.

Keith, you've created and built one of the best truck n trailer combos by far:cool:
This one is a keeper right? You can't part with this beauty:eek: that would be like Reg selling his 850 Kenworth:eek::eek:.... Ain't gonna happen! Lol

Great looking rig, can't wait to see it in person someday.

Thanks Mario, I like this truck better than any other rig I have built, buuuutttt I never say never. LOL. We'll see.

Thanks Sue, I am going to try to make it to Indy this year, but it's right in between two weeks in cape cod and a week in Mexico this year so it will be tight, but I'm going to try. It would be great to see your trucks and Mario's as well.

Keith,
On Ebay search DCP on page 9 or 10 as well as page 24 or 25 is a replica of your tractor in 1/64 scale did not know if you had one or were interested. One is hooked to a tanker the other to a dump trailer.

Thanks Tony, I have one with a dump, may have to get the tanker though.

Added one of Steve's sweet front bumpers full of Lynn's bezels.

Yes, close to six hundred hooked up and working. All lights work off battle switches and the MFU.

Thanks Paul, I sold this Peterbuilt last year to a guy in Washington. I still have the trailer and since have built a Cascadia to pull it around. I'm also putting together another 379 to pull the trailer.

Ahh yes I recognise that Pete, nice work

Cascadia looks great, the trailer suits a modern Semi like the Freightliner

Keep up the good work!
