I dont know how big of a right angle drive you need, this may be too big, but I bet it would never fail on you.
I know a lot of guys over here buy cheap chinese knock off right angle drills and angle grinders just for the purpose of stealing the gearboxes. I dont know if you guys have anything like Harbor Freight, but I signed up for their email list and I am constantly getting coupons for 20% off and more sometimes on top of the sale prices.

Similar thoughts as to flyingbeagle, But Matco tools makes a very slim right angle drill attachment that's stout enough for use but not nearly as large as the one above. I have one at home I can snap some pics of tonight for you. In the meantime ill see if I can find a link to it. If i remember correctly graham tools also sells one identical to it. Here is a link to it http://www.grahamtool.com/standardrightanglekit.aspx here's a pic http://www.grahamtool.com/images/products/detail/00101_standard_right_angle_kit.1.jpg Harbor freight also has one that may not be as tough as the others but for $20.00 it may be worth a shot, http://www.harborfreight.com/3-8-eighth-inch-angle-drill-attachment-with-keyless-chuck-92188.html

tmaxx differential units work well too. They are self contained, use standard input sizes and are very tuff. I either install a spool to lock the diff, or you could jb weld it ( or something similar).

Thanks guys I have ordered one of Tmaxx and one of the drill attatchments from Grahamtool. Maybe in a couple of weeks I should have them and see what one is more suitable. I will let you know the outcome.

Here's some measure pics for you: the measurements are in inches except the input and outputs shafts I took in metric because most rc stuff seems to be in mm for shafts.

Thanks Dan, Fantastic set of photos:cool: I think this will do the job I need. I see in the photos there are two screws for the cover but I can only see one screw thread. Also close to the head it looks as if there is another bearing carrier, do you think it would be possible to shorten the input arm?.
Thanks again Dan for the great photos.

There is a screw on each side of the head that go into the aluminum block. They are directly across from each other just to hold plastic cover on.
Also noted that the alum block has a small centering pin on it for the short output shaft.

All of the bushings are .502 at max OD, but the widths area bit diff.

As for input shaft it's solid rod so you could cut it down as much as wanted.

It also comes with an extension arm for the output shaft that threads in and is 6 inches long
