Hello everyone, I was going to post this on our trucking thread but as this forum says...it it digs, pushes dirt post here so i just wanted to share some pics and a video of this Bruder Rc conversion. I see a few points that could use some strenghting and modifying such as the center hitch could use some end plates to keep things together and where possible i want to replace those annoying plastic tabs with screws:eek::mad:

just got it, no loading with it yet....notice i say loading not digging? lol

ok, some pics

During shipping the loader must have been upsidedown for awhile because it leaked what i thought at first was oil?..... turns out the fluid used is antifreeze!? Is that common? I was unaware of its use as a fluid power. Interesting.

heres pics of the guts. I did have it all apart already ( I thought of Dabears and how he takes apart everything he buys...lol I'm guilty too :) never did take pics at the time but im sure it will be opened again:eek::o

you can just see the heat sinks on the two ESC's from hereand they fit nice. Everything fits nice actually, no "stuffing" required!:)

the Lipo 7.4V batt sits in the counterweight area which completly removable

the tank comes out easy without having to unhook the hoses

Another unique feature done to this is the wheels have been weighted. the inside of the rims are filled solid with i think a solder or dense epoxy or lead??? not sure but even though its all plastic this thing is much heavier than my truck :)

Too anyone considering something like this, i can tell without trying, this will only load loose light material if you want it to last any amount of time. It will serve the purpose we got it for. A means to load my wifes end dump trailer.

Cost for this loader? $1,007 Canadian, RTR ( battery was full charge out of box) with radio, charger included, shipped to my door in 23 days from date of order.

heres a vid of the first run!:):):):)

Congrats Mario I am sure you will have fun with it. The antifreeze is not common but it will work and being thinner it will make the functions move faster and you will get decent lubrication and corrosion resistance. As far as some of the issues you see you can always upgrade parts as needed.

Is the bucket and essentials metal or plastic? Looks great, did they require a deposit or payment in full at the begining?...another words, were they sitting on the shelf ready to ship?

Bucket is plastic, thats another reason this is not meant to dig:eek: everything is plastic! the lift cylinder barrel end mounts have been strengthen. A larger round metal plate with a groove which is the thickness of the plastic body is cut around the edge of the disc. A smaller hole is drilled in the center for the lift cylinder pin and then when you bring the upper and lower halves of the front frame together they secure the disc in place very well.
I placed the order on the 4th. He contacted me on the 6th and said the radio was on back order for a week. I had confirmation it left Spain on the 11th and in my hands by the 29th.
So I'm going to guess that he has them sitting ready to ship or that week waiting for the radio was enough time to build? He must have all the parts ready to build one maybe? Lots of stuff, 3 servos, 2 ESC , the cylinders, valve , pump..

I've read and seen lots of Bruder conversions on this site but until you get to see one up close you realize it's an amazing achievement. May not function like an all metal but still a great idea. Hmmmm, I might have to start walking the toy isle at Wal mart for a potential refit of my own;):D

Oh, I forgot to mention. The funny thing is when I opened up the box, the guy actually packed it back in the original Bruder box the toy came in! Lol if it wasn't for the fact it weighs so much, you would swear it was just the toy. :D:)

I just knew you would say that Aaron. Lol. I'm serious, I chuckled to myself as I took it apart to clean up the coolant spill. Lol
Your right, the nice thing is if something breaks, that's what I reinforce and even if I destroy a body part, just gotta buy a toy loader for replacement parts! :D

you may be surprised, if you loosen up some soil it may dig a little. just have to get a ripper on a dozer or something?

it will most certainly push some snow around up there in the sault! :D

Ya, it's been bitter cold here too:(. But as goose suggested , I could plow snow from the comfort of the house:)
I guess that's another benefit of using antifreeze in the hydraulic system. I could run in the cold with no problem!:D:D lol
This is my first experience with a Lipo battery, not sure how they react in the cold and if it may do damage? I think I'll wait till spring before this loader ventures outside:eek::(

Video update!
I pulled out the lowboy from the garage and tested loading and unloading. I tried loading before making the video to be sure I didn't screw up and I got it on the first try no problem. The video is my second run at it.
I'm very happy with the smooth control at slow speeds and the smooth stick response.

That's it for now. I can't get too caught up with the new toy when Sue's truck is not done yet:eek: weight lifting tests will have to wait;)

Looks nice. Very interesting! I'm susprised that a functional model can be built out of a cheap Bruder model. I'm amazed all the equipment to make it functional fits inside. It is hydraulic though? I'm guess it has gear motors for the axles? It seems to run nice and smooth! Congrats on the purchase.

it has a modified servo for each axle, link (http://hobbyocasion.xopie.com/en/product/servo-modificado-traccion-con-eje) i already asked mario for the site he got it from. :D
i may have to look into how he did that, cant beat the prices on these things. so long as you dont plan to dig out yer basement, i think theyre a good buy! :D

Mario, his site says you are supposed to run antifreeze. but im wondering it it green like the car stuff?

Supermario
02-03-2013, 06:59 AM
Yes it is antifreeze, not the green stuff but it is red but still antifreeze. The good thing about antifreeze/anti-boil is if it spills on your plastic it won't destroy it like some oils do.
They sell the pump cylinders and control valves separately as well. They also do a kit for the bruder excavator.

Chris

Yes, the antifreeze almost looks pink ish red. And not only will it not damage the plastic, it's a lot easier to clean up!
I was warned you must not use oil! It will damage the seals and retainers he said a couple times.

Lol, your probably right Reg:o. I watched the video again and you can't read the lettering on the can, it's just red and white so I couldn't figure out what happened? This is the first time I've been denied and then I noticed why.... Off in the corner of the screen you can see a box and the label clear as day. Moen, the plumbing fixture company. Lol:D:D if I could tear the entire kitchen apart I would:). Old house with crappy insulation. If we leave the doors on in the winter, mold starts to form in the back corner of cupboard:eek:
I need to gut the kitchen, re insulate, vapor barrier and new cupboards this summer.

Hey, no I didn't! The front axle is straight and true but I noticed the rear has a slight wobble to it since I got the loader. I think it's the wheels mounting on axles and not the axle shafts.
I might break something trying to straighten so I'm leaving it alone. Not a major issue anyway.
That's it for pushing power test, this thing will dig into rubber, wood chips and probably sand with no problem!:D

My pleasure :) it was a leap of faith when I bought it. Wasn't sure of quality and durability and once I got it and saw how well it performed and was installed I knew I had something not made in China and had to share!
The servo drive system is very impressive and even with the exchange rate, you can rest assured you are getting good bang for your buck.
What also impressed me is the hydraulic power. If you notice in the video, to get proper traction , a lot of load was placed on the dump cylinder and yet it did not go over relief and fold in, it held the load very well.

Glad you enjoyed the video and sorry, no small kids in the house. Youngest is 18 so there better not be little ones running around!:mad::p:)

I was born and raised on the logging industry and would love a tree length clam for the loader but that would mean I need a third valve and then the tank won't fit in the space...etc.
I'm sure it could be done but for now , from a mechanics point of view, I really like how well and easy everything sits and fits:)

What would really be awesome is an excavator with a thumb cylinder attachment:D:D:D

Hey Mario great looking loader. Looks like that company has come a long way from what I have from them. I have a very early setup from them about a year and a half ago and everything looks to be built much better. I had the kit made for the 963 tracked loader and all the cylinders leaked out of the front terribly. I emailed the owner and he sent me new seals no questions asked and they arrived in a week. I was very impressed coming from Spain to the US. Anyways that worked for sealing them back up but then when I removed the caps I stripped one and decided to heck with it I'll keep them as a spare set if need be. I bought three cylinders from Ric at PMD and this loader is back up and running great.

I have one question for you though, does your pump and motor seem to run hot while operating or have you not run it enough to find out. Also what kind of battery life and run time are you getting out of the machine.

Looks great and I think I may be buying one soon and maybe have it going for our April show.

Thanks,

Sorry Tyler, your right, I haven't run it enough yet to see if there's a heat issue with pump and motor.
I don't think I can wait till spring to run this but going in the wet snow is out of the question. So I'm thinking I might bring it to work on the weekend, couple bags of wood pellets on the shop floor and tune up my loader operating skills.:D.
I'm very curious about battery run time also. I got it with a full charge, been doing minor driving and lifting. I checked voltage before doing the chair and truck push ( I learned about not letting a Lipo get below 7.0V ) and it was at 7.5 at the time of test.
I'm hoping the Lipo charge bag I ordered arrives soon so I can recharge.
This is my first experience with Lipo and I want to pay attention to warnings and proper procedures for them.

I will let ya know what I find about heat , I have a temperature gun at work to monitor with and will also see how long I can run for . I hope expecting at least an hour of run time is not unreasonable???

Well with heat issues if any arise would you be able to take a small pc or hobby fan and run it to help cool down the electronics? like this one? http://www.ebay.com/itm/HOBBYWING-RC-Model-5V-0-18A-R-C-Hobby-Motor-Cooling-Fan-AC224-/271152242707?pt=US_Character_Radio_Control_Toys&hash=item3f21eee013

Thanks Aaron. You might be onto something with that fan. By the looks of the dimensions 30mmX 30mm. It would fit. The location of motor n pump is near the rear axle , I think I could drill a bunch of holes under the rear fender behind the steps on each side so the fan could move the air through and you wouldn't even see the holes.

Hey All.
Small update on the loader. haven't been able to do much, busy with Mama Sues truck but managed to get er up on the table the other day. Found a leak on the return line fitting @ the tank so figured I would do an oil change ( antifreeze actually ) and see if I can reseal.
The cheap lookin exhaust stack was suddenly bugging me and I wondered what I could do to spruce it up a bit. Turns out the diameter of a stock Tamiya stack is a perfect fit! I cut off the bend in the pipe and the fit is nice and snug.:)

Been tinkering on and off for months now. Upgraded servos to metal gear type, new pump and motor. Had a steering servo horn strip at the Clifford show, now replaced with a metal version.
Just test running, checking for leaks etc before closing it up so thought I'd post a short video of where I'm at.:)

Finally ! I can post a decent update on the bruder loader. I haven't touched it since last summer when a servo went mad. Finally ordered a few new servos and got it up and running again.
I'm very excited because after a couple hours fine tuning the system it's running great! No leaks no high heat, all good :D:bounce:
