Lou,

Don't know how I didn't find this thread when I started researching my conveyer and screen? Very neat! I may need to borrow a few of your ideas.

Lou,
I dont recognize the blue truck in your photos. I am curious about the third axle. Is it a jeep with a lift axle??? I have never seen a truck like that. can you give some more info, or point me to a build thread, or even a video of it.

Thanks

Thanks Lou for posting the pictures. Sure had a great time moving dirt with you two. The FWD is a tough truck and it survived the roll over, never even broke the mirror off. I'm pretty sure we moved about 42 loads until Greg put that big one on by packing it down. Those screw drives are tough tho, as it still lifted the box crammed like that. Go FWD!!!

Got together with rob and greg yesterday and did some more work in Gregs big construction park Project ..greg had some radio problems with the excavator so we ended up double teaming with the two Dozers ..we backfilled the N/W wall for a while and I ended up getting stuck a few times ..The D8 can pull good too ..thanks greg

Cool videos, Lou. Your IH TD25 is a really nice model. I've always liked it. Something different then Caterpillar yellow machines, but Greg's dozer is a great model too. I'd be glad to own either! Looks like you had a good time.

Thanks guys ..I can easily kill 4 hours hanging out and moving dirt or logs with greg and rob ..As you can see i have been getting the dozer back into the operating mode ..i used to have planatarys in the sprokets and they wernt sealed enough ..They would get plugged up so I got rid of them ..some of the photos you can see the new hubs ..works much better but a little fast ..may order a couple sprokets and gear it down a bit more .I was also not quite happy with the blade up/down travel and finaly got around to swapping out the cycinders from 2" to 3" travel. much better

Your International TD 25 dozer did you make it your self or did you buy it as a kit off some one?

Lou, you're making great progress. Can't believe how much you've accomplished since last Sat. If you keep that up it'll be moving dirt before Christmas. Well maybe not, I got the bad news our goodies are out of stock and won't be shipped till the 20th Dec. Anyhow great work and keep the pictures coming.

Wow! Nice work Lou! You have been busy, that's for sure. I am amazed at the pieces you have been able to make with such a small cnc. Are you pushing to have this done for the show in CR? Do you know a solid date for that yet?

Thanks .Yeh it does take some plannig .thanks for sharing your great ideas as well...so far I only had a few screw ups..The neck is very full up front with not alot of room..two servos and the drive system..Its working but not perfectly ..try and get some drivetrain test video up..

Almost ready for paint now eh?

Jerrrett ..not Quite yet..lol..All the details are gona take some time but I am almost ready for hydros ..still a few bugs to work out ..I am not sure if the big 1/4 scale servo is gona be quite strong enough for the atriculation yet after some short testing ..may have to go hydro ..On the plus side that would make more room in the engine compartment

Thanks for looking

I did some testing on the drivetrain ..sorry no vids yet but soon ..and had some difficulty with the steering and binding ..I ended up making a bearing block and seems to work much better ..The o-ring drive belt i was using at first was slipping too much and putting too much tension on the whole assembly so i dug in my parts box and foung a nice little tooth belt and cogged pullies..Much better ..Having the front wheel drive makes things way more complicated and wheel tilt as well as having the whole asembly ossilate and steering was a challenge to make work ok ..still not perfect but it does work..

Wow Lou, nice progress. I can just imagine that the 6 wheel drive is probably twice as complex than the 4 wheel dive would be to build. Your doing a jam up job on this and your CNC work. Ready to see it work.

Earl Yes lots of 2/56 on this build ..Micro fasteners and Festener express have them in stock ..a little cheaper at fastener express and I found 2/56 x 14 there as well where micro fasteners doesnt have those ..I really wish the head pattern was a little smaller and more scale on the 4/40 in stainless ..I have seen some in brass at a link for train supplies that Rob sent me ..should give them a try as well ..Rob said his prices were good too .. http://www.americanmodeleng.com/id41.html

Reg did you say Bar ....Im trying to stay away from bars ..lol..Seriously ..Im trying to keep upto you these day ..Your a building machine ..lol..Should be at least functionalby the show in CR

Thanks Michael ..really apreciate your comments

T-n-T-Lou-great work on a very complicated model. These look like the toughest to build out of all the construction models. Good job!!.

Tom at times I think I bit of way more then I can chew ..some things are working really well like the table rotation and mold table and others have been a nightmare ..the large servo for the articulation had to be replaced will hydros as the servo wasnt quite strong enough ..the steering had a few bugs in it as well and I messed with the linkage to get it working ok ..Having the front drive is creating a bit more strain but I think I will get these bugs worked out ..

The hydros now that has been a pain in the %$#...Last fall I bought a pump and 3 spool valve off a well know US ebay member ..I am not knocking him because im sure he wasnt aware of the problems with this product at the time. He bought 3 of these units and after emailing him about the problems he said they were all crap ..I thought i was getting a good deal and Paid over $400 for the pump filter and three spool valve ..A leimbach pump would cost that much ..Anyway this unit is pretty much a chinesse knock off of the leimbach ..spools are a touch larger ..The + side they used bearings on the spool cam ..4mm fittings and metal gear servos ..servos are very cheap but seem to be working well.. The pump looks very much like the leimbach as well ..Gears are a bit larger and the unit I quite a bit noisyer then the leimbach ..Buyer beware..The Valve leaked from the moment I hooked it up ..The pump was labouring and drawing way too much current and now leaking out the motor shaft ..I should of sent the whole thing back but It sat for months in the box before i set it up ..grader has been sitting on the shelf for months with a big puddle of oil under it

Well I am trying to recoupe some of this money i have spent of this so I am working out the problems one by one ..first the valve ..I tried replacing the o-rings and found the same thing happened .I made the oring grove wider and doubled up on the oring ..better now but still weeping a little on one spool ..may have damaged the o-ring when i put it back together ..I also found out the servos were bottoming out on the inward stroke..One servo broke the housing during the strain...after closer inspection the plunger was bottoming out and hitting the cap screws ..The cap screws another joke ...They were wrapped with teflon to try and seal.Idiots
Leimbach uses an o-ring on the seet ..I ended up using the valve servo ajustment caps that you remove from the valve .the same thread as the cap screws . I Cut the ends off and used 5x1 mm o-rings on the seat .Should be able to see in the pics ..seals and works way better ..Glued the servo and valves seems to be working ok now ..

Now the #$@%&* ..Pump After inspecting the pump I noticed the the is a extar line off the top of the pump to the tank for the releif valve ..Looking it over I noticed there was no way for the Oil to exit or pass the set screw when the PRV did open ..They were expecting it to bypass through the threads i guess ...NOT ..Idiots ..I just drilled a 1/16 hole through the center of the PRV set screw now the oil can bypass into the tank ..I dont have a guage but im thinking the pump may have creating too much pressure for these vavles ..Now the shaft is leaking on motor side ..Opened that up and the only thing i see is some type of neoprem bushing ..I put 3 layers of walbro carb gasket material under the shaft set screw and that seems to have worked ..time will tell..If I didnt get laid off last month I would be replacing the whole works with a leimbach set up..Live and learn

T-n-T-Lou-sounds like you may have gotten burned on the pump system but seems like you solved all the problems. I never worked with hyds. but hearing about all your troubles I am glad I never got into that. Your model works great in the dirt. I especially like how you have accurate speed control. This will be handy when doing complicated tasks. It will be interesting to see what all you can do with this model, such as dig ditches, put slopes on banks, etc. Looks like a fun machine to run. nice work!!

That is very impressive. It can really dig in and take quite a cut. The driven front axle appeared to be working very well and was making a real difference. Is that about the top speed with the gear motors you are using, or are you just very disciplined. It looked to be just about perfect for grading, I just didnt know if you had some in reserve for a "road gear" if you know what I mean.

I understand not wanting to flame the E-Bay seller if you beleive he was not aware of the poor quality of the hydraulics, but do you mind telling the manufacturer or some other way of identifying these so that others who dont have the same experience and abilities as you dont get burned.

Again, This is an amazing model, Thanks for sharing.

Sorry flyingbeagle I forgto the speed question ..I do have a bit more gas at 35 RPM..Would like a bit more but grading will be tricky at any faster speeds .Going to take some getting used to ..Now I need to build some road ..Maybe greg will come to help

Scott when you are ready to do something with it feel free to ask what i did in detail if you need ...oh yes I did trim the cover allen screw for the PRV so I could get a little more adjustment on the set screw

Wow, that actuator is so smooth and quiet, and I think you did a great job on the design of that scissors lift mechanism. In my opinion, it's a nicer way to go than the screw drives. The lifting speed is more constant throughout the range of travel. Screw drives all seem to suffer from the jack rabbit start, and then putter out at the end of the stroke, but this takes care of that problem!

That's a pretty nice screening set up!! And your post on the dump body actuators changed my planning phase on a dump build I'm doing. I was doing a similar lift but going hydro. After watching your video and looking up the actuators I am now going that route. So much simpler than all that hydraulic parts to find places to hide. Thanks!!

This years show will be a blast ..pretty soon I wont have any more room and will have to be pulling a trailer ..the plant takes up a lot of space so hoping to have room for it ..time to stop building ..NOT !!! ..lol ..Thanks cooper ..I did see a few hoist photos on the net that gave me a few Ideas ..Once the drawing was on Cad I knew it would fold up properly ..It was only a guess as to how much it needed to push out and I got lucky the first time .If you wanted to get creative you could pair them up to gain some more power ..Ian has some 6volt that will plug directly into the receiver .Im not sure if the torque rating is the same ..They do have a toll free # to call if you want to ask more questions ..Im sure Ian would be pleased to yak at you ..The ones I am using are 12 volt ..The set up is around 1 inch thick so it would not struggle too much to start its lift and with the way Reg designed these boxes the floor is slightley raised to alow for a dump mechanizam...Great Job Reg ..Even your tail gate latch will be simple to fasten ..Im going to just copy that for the other box ..let me know if you have any questions Cooper well heres a few pics i promised

If we can camp at the show my plan is to tow our cargo trailer. That way I can bring all of my stuff and it should still have some extra space for the rest of you guys to store some stuff at night. If we bring our campers and all of our models we will be sleeping out on the ground so that our toys stay safe inside for the night!lol My Kenworth will take up the whole floor of our camper....

I'm out of town right now but have some time to roam on the net. On your hoist for the dump, is that lifting a good amount of weight? I built the same idea, but the arm that mounts to the bed is a lot longer. I think I have to move it closer like yours. But while I'm laying idle in some hotel room my gears are still turning. :). I think you saw the little bit I did with the torsion helper springs? It works great and those clamps come in all sizes and cheep to cannibalize too:)

06-29-2014, 01:15 AM
Thanks Cooper ..I was checking out your idea with the springs ..awsome idea and great work ..Its that first little step to get the canter going is the hardest and looks as though it helps ..so far with my design it seems to be working quite well ...i am using the 12 volt cyclinders and the 150 to 1 but not sure if its making much of a difference..So far its only the short little pup and i tried the box full of a box of batteries and chunky little vise.I made up a small 9 battery 10.5 volt AA 700mah pack to fit between the frame rails and managed to get 10 dump cycles out of it ...using the remote set up that they sell as well...I am getting pretty curious now so i may fill it full in the dirt pile and see what it does ...I started to make up some other peices for the truck hoist and am kindof holding back a little to see if this will be ok ..I may use a thinner guage aluminum for the frame so I can double up on the cyclinders ..Im sure that would help lengthen the life of these firgellis..So far I like them and they seem to work quite smooth ..Between the 2 of us im sure we will come up with some cool little hoists

tracksntreadslou
06-30-2014, 08:17 PM
So cooper I did some testing on my design ..I filled the pup box with dirt ..Mostly dry with a little dampness ..I tried with the 9 battery 10.5 volt pack i made up the other day ..No go..I ended hooking up a 3 cell lipo 11.4 volt battery and it came up ok ..Im thinking this should be max for this cyclinder..For th truck box i am going to slghtly modify the thicknesses for the width to accomadate 2 cyclinders side by side ..Im sure it will have prnty of balls to lift it then

Looks good, I think I may have to double up also. I may even have the bed a tad bit higher on the inside to accommodate the twin drives. Leaving the sides extending down to conceal a higher bed bottom. I want to make it be able to dump a heaping over loaded bed. Not to say I'll always be overloading but never know:). Thanks ..The unit sits on top of the rails ..Its aproxamatley 1 inch thick ..I did it this way so the canter pivot point would have bit of a start ..with the way reg built the box sides down and the bed raised a little like you are thinking it works out good ..the sides go about 1/2 inch below the bed ..everthing is setting at a looks right height..i will take a few mockup pics on the pacific to give you some perspective

Wow it got here fast hey Lou! I can't wait to see it in person. December has been an expensive month for both of us but it's always nice to get what you want for Christmas! It's a shame about the shipping damage. I'm not sure WTF these shippers do to this stuff while on route. Something packed that well in a wooden case shouldn't see any damage unless it gets run over. I'm sure you'll get it fixed up easy, it's just a shame you need to. It's nice out today so get out there and film some vids!

Looks good, if you have it open and don't mind posting a couple pics of insides I would appreciate it. I'm curious to see what space, motors , configuration inside they have. And yeah, shipping is always the worse part!! Had a tool grinder (about 80 pounds) shipped, twice with broken castings. In wooden crate, only way it could have broke would have been from a drop!! No marks on outside, happened twice!!!

I hear you guys on damaged parcels delivered for the brown for almost 6 years. Parcels are damaged most often by drivers not wanting to get hurt and the company not supplying them with hand carts. We had roughly 30 hand carts for 150+ drivers...guys would get one chain it up locked when done for the day only to come back next day to find a chain on the ground and hand cart gone...

Hey RW ..One downfall to the way they built this thing..Not very easily accessable ..Not a simple task to take the cab off.i tried a little .Looks as tracks and under fenders need to be removed ..going to wait til i have lights to install and mabey a sound unit..Lots is accessable through the under belly pans.. pump / valves and pump speed control look to be quite easy enough to service ..now the travel motors is a different story ..hopefully these work for a long time ..lol

tracksntreadslou
12-27-2015, 11:20 PM
Me too Joe ..The way I looked at it was if i get a few years out of it and have to change components with the price i paid I have a pretty decent shell with good detail ..with the detail this thing has I know i wouldnt be able to match with my building skills..I have finally set up the radio the way I wanted with this set up ..radio has only 4 mixes so 2 were used on the track motors..the way the had it running one track motor on each stick ..now its running on left stick ..right stick is set up for blade and tilt ..mixed the pump on those 2 as well ..the ripper is set so i have to turn pump on /off..I think the way its set up i will have extended run time ..If i end up swapping to sabertooth i will gain to mixes but for now i will go with this ...about 30 minutes run time so far and no complaints

I think i need some better inserts Reg ...Soon in the dirt buddy soon.

good luck on the snow Bigford think it coming soon buddy see lots of places are getting hammered

Lil Giants

30 min runtime on 3s 5000 pack?

My personal preference would be a Sabertooth immediately, just can't beat it for smooth precise control. When I bought the Scale Art 963 from Mitch, I run the Servonaut esc for 1 batt, then in went the Sabertooth. :D

tracksntreadslou
12-28-2015, 01:26 AM
They claim about 38 minutes on a 5300 mah batt...they had it set up for the pump on switch without mix ..im sure I could get close to an hour now with the new adjustments..the 30 minutes i used were just testing and set up ..I wasnt paying much attention to draw at this time Joe ..so far my luck with sabertooth hasnt been that great ...im taking a break .lol.. i have a couple new ones in the box waiting ..mind you the ones in there are pretty smooth ..same ones i have in the TD25

Thanks for all the pictures. You said you went through RC4WD how does that help, did you do a money transfer or Paypal ? If you did money transfer there is no guarantee on anything like the bank told me it's your loss if they don't come through and at $7000.00 I don't know about you but I'm not going on taking a chance like that but I.ll check them out. Hey Ed yes my bank pretty much told me the same thing .guess we all take chances by buying through the net ...Shipping damage ..lost ..wish it was as simple as buying over the counter .yes a money transfer was the way they wanted I had my eye on this machine for a while ..the same machine is available at the other one Alibaba you were looking at with the sound modual for a couple hundred more ..I emailed RC4Wd about that ..They said they couldnt match that because it was a German sound unit ..I choose rc4wd because i thought my chances were far better ..they are pretty reputal and so far i havent heard anything bad about anyone not recieving machines or products .. I had the dozer in my cart for almost a week before i pulled the trigger ..they saw it was there and emailed asking if i had any concerns ...I finally made up my mind and did the purchase ..they emailed me back with the final amount and bank info ..on the monday i went to do the transfer ..My bank promply told me I was short of info and wanted their banks adress which they failed to supply in the email.wondering If they are going to correct that in the future .It was late in the day and I emailed RC4WD right away ..I heard from them early the next morning with the info my bank needed ..did the transfer and within a few days received a tracking number ..It takes a few days before the tracking number will give you an update so be patient ..Im sure the parcel that was shipped from hong kong stopped at rc4wd in califoria bc there was a nice little xmas card and complimentry hook enclosed ..with my experience My feedback for RCFWD is 5 stars... BTW there is a serial number in black permanent marker ..Mine ends with 47

good to get back on the Cnc ..was a little rusty ..I did put a beefyer motor on it ...cutting through 3/4 thick aluminum like cheese Joe I am building based on the tire size ..MPE set me up with these ..they are beauties ..not that large tho ...thinking more like 621 - 627 size ...9 inch wide and bottom is about 6 inches long ..should heap up pretty good tho

T-n-T-Lou-this is a great project and I believe a 1st. for this site. (To be completed). I like the steering geometry although I really don't understand it now but I'm sure it will be clear later. Very nice work. I will be following.

Thanks everyone ..appreciate all your input ..tom i was pretty much the same way ..took me a while to find some good enough pics to show how it works and luckily once my cad was machined the geometry worked well..I will be able to steer at around 85 degrees heres a few pics i found

Looking good I built a twin engine Euclid scraper years ago, it was fun. Already asked did you buy the hydraulic pump or build it. I'm building my own pumps but having problems with driving motors present ones I use are 24 vdc gives me problems when trying to fit everything. Could you tell me what motor your pump uses as I am doing my 5th model a D11 and have a room problem

Thanks

This will be REALLY COOL to see it moving dirt!:)

Looks like you are using a CNC mill? What mill, did you do your own conversion ?

About the bottom of the pan, looks like a spiral in with an end mill? Would that have been better with fewer straight passes and a fly cutter or face mill, or is this a function due to the CNC operation? Please know I am NOT a machinist, just trying to add to my limited hobby skill set.

As someone else earlier in the thread stated, PLEASE finish this. It looks great now and will be fantastic with some dirt on it!

I think i remember you posting some pics some where Earl .would like to see more tho .sorry taking so long to respond ..I am going with a Jung pump .. the one that Magoom has on there website..its a little overkill for the Pan but it is a very reliable pump ..not too badly priced either ..see if i can com up with a link for you if you would like ..this one has an integrated tank ..i bought the pump with prv and using my own motor

Hey Jim ...I am using a small Taig 6 inch y travel and 12 inch x travel .Most of everything was put together ..I still had to install the limit switches and set up the machine ..some days were pretty frustrating but have a good handle on it now .the spindle motor was not quite cutting it .. no pun intended ..lol so i found a Delta bench grinder motor thats has more balls ..working well for what I need to do with it ..
The spiral in the bowl bed was done with a program option ..just set it up and walk away ..probably take less time with a bigger bit bit my collets are quite small

Wow, Those hose covers and all the hose clamps turned out real nice Lou!!
The effort was worth it though as they sure look great holding all the hose in place.
The ones on the side arms turned out real nice too and you can't even tell they have four hoses inside them.
Let's try it out soon, before it gets too wet!!

The oil tank and the shuttle screen are looking like they belong on the real machine, very fine detail. The paint is going to make it pop.
Hurry up and lets move some dirt!!!

Lou....after spending 18 years as our Australian steel industry contract facilitator for cylinders, I am intrigued with the pair of double acting steering cylinders as shown

Lets consider....steer to the right = add pressurised fluid to the blind side of the left hand cylinder and at the same time add pressurised fluid to the rod side of the right cylinder

Sounds simple...yes, however without some form of proportional control, as the equal flow of pressurised fluid will retract the right cylinder faster than the left cylinder extending due to the annular difference or smaller surface area within the rod side of the right cylinder when retracting

PS.....your build looks amazing & I look forward to seeing it progress.............Derek

This week i have been trying to get the hydros buttoned up on the Pan ..did I ever learn alot ..I had went for the jung pump for the reason of the space that was limited in the front ..probably should have went with a scaleart system and gained a bit of room ...well i went with the pump and mount sold by magom ..I saw that magom has their pump direct drive and thought i could use a brushless motor I had kicking around for awhile with direct drive as well ..little did i know that this motor was rated at 1500 kv per volt ..??? if you dont know much about brushless this is probably an important topic ...After everything was all hooked up and ready to go pretty much nothing happened ..motor worked fine by itself but not enough torque..the brushless Magom uses is 470 kv per volt multiply that by 12 = 5600 rpm full out ..way overkill for these pumps even with half that rpm .I swapped that motor out for a bigger brushed motor and within a few minute it was way to hot turned the pump tho ..well i ended up hooking up the drill to the back of that motor to experiment and see what would happen ...after the fluid was bleed and all the system full things seemed to move ok ..running the drill at half throttle seemed like it was enough for all the functions to work fine ..drill is max at 1700 rpm ..i did blow a line off so that indicates i have good pressure ...i realy need to get myself a good gauge ..
.i looked at buying their slower brushless but they were out of stock ..thinking now there is a better solution if you want to run inline ..Planetary seems the way to go these days ..Premacon is using them and fumotec on their 490 .
Well i tried to find something that may bolt on ..nobody out there offers anything good ATM .maybe someone else can chirp in if they have found anything good available the will bolt up .Glider guys are using some and there are a few available ..one is a combo brushless geardrive for about $200 us that requires a 4S lipo..there is a few out their but nothing to just put in your cart and buy ..Premocon doesnt offer anything unless you buy the whole setup ..im thinking that I should email Magom and request them to start building them
The belt drive is ok is you have the room ..There is some sideways pull on the bearings tho ...not sure how much of a factor it has but it cant be good for the bearings
after almost a full day scouring the internet i decided that i would build my own ,,you can see the pics that i used the internals of a cordless screw driver ..seems to work ok but a little on the noisy side ..full of grease and going to cross my fingers ..sorry about the long winded post guys ..BTw thanks to joe and Reg for the well needed advice
:D

yesterday i went over to Robs and did a little testing ..still some bugs to work out ..i think i will have to extend the apron lift rod a touch as i was having trouble closing the apron ..It would over extend and bind in the rotation ..speed is a little fast ..may have to us small hydraulic lines or maybe i can make adjustments with the radio ....may have to beef up the frame as well or brace it up ..not a bad day for the first hydraulic run ..heres a vid

T-n-T-Lou-the pan is coming along really good. I liked the video. Seems like all systems work well. I am wondering if everything is going to fit in the cab, but I'm sure you have all that planned out. Great build!!

Thanks Steve really helpful .I have looked at alot of different pics and had not seen how they had it built .I did some adjustments to the cylinder placement and that helped alot ..I am still going to add some braces..I am going to have to be very careful when ejecting as to make sure the apron is fully open ..the ejector cylinder is very strong and bends components when they are in the Way ..

thanks Ed and Steve ..this has been a really fun build so far ..i have learned alot about the different models and sizes..lots to look out for ..this wont be exact to any specific model tho ..Mostly a 637G

Thanks tom..I think this has to be one of the most difficult builds to plan out ..that was one of the reasons i chose a Duel engine so I could make a bit more room ..A single engine would of been a nightmare ..lol Batteries will fit in the Rear and with careful wiring and fabrication I will be able to have a free Cab with room for an operator

No prob Lou, Steve got me into buying parts books . They really help on parts you can't see from pics . The scraper is 1 of the toughest to build. 2 other come to mind, 6 way blade and rubber tired backhoe .

Thanks Joe .Motor seems to be running smooth ..I am guessing I can get the RPM down to about a 200rpm i am guessing ..Looks pretty slow .I did a little more testing today and with a bit of Radio adjustments I managed to slow some things down a bit ..The apron still needs a little tweeking tho..Last few weeks have been good and getting some of the detail done ...Looks as though photobucket is down this eve so no pics yet ..I did manage to load a bunch on FB and a new Vid on youtube..There is a glitch in the radio ATM and you can see it at the first 30 seconds

You probably already know but to slow down hydros without loosing pressure just limit how much the valve opens with servo limits. Can't wait till you get to scrape some dirt, looks great and one of my favorite pieces of equipment, you nailed this one!!

Thanks Rob It was good to have a visit with you and greg yesterday ..too bad we forgot to take videos lol..you and Greg got the hang of the sticks pretty quick too..Im sure you are going to be running that thing too in the spring while I push with the D10..

Thanks RW ..It would be nice to be able to have the pump off and be able to mix but with the steering the way it is when pump isn't running the force make the machine wander ....I plan on switching to a better radio the the turnigy ..then run pump between 10 - 25 % and mix as needed ...In the vid I was running maybe 30% and that gave me plenty of hydraulic power...I did do some adjustment with the endpoint and the exponential and that really helped with the steering ...Apron is still a little fast and maybe if i swap out the 4mm hoses to 2.5 mm hoses it will make a difference ..
It is good to see bucket is back up so pics coming soon

Hey Lou what do you think of your new dozer? I keep looking at them and found some videos of internals and some other reviews. Boy with tracks and everything it looks like a pretty good price and piece of equipment. Christmas is soon and we'll just can't have enough dozers!!! Would love your opinion on what is good and what could be better.

Bahahah ..yup never enough dozers..RW I bought the the dozer expecting to do some mods and pretty much knew I would have repairs ..Kind of like their excavator
..The first day i had it out I ended up breaking a track link so it sat for a few weeks while I ordered them up ...kind of my fault because of wet material and I didn't keep the rails clear .track links could be a little tougher .You may want to get them to send a few extras ..I did talk to a guy in new zealand that has one too and he was having track problems as well ..he said his pins were getting loose and falling out ..I took my tracks off and locktited all the spline pims and so far havent had any issues
Very heavy (you will be surprised when you go to lift it out of the box ) and super strong gear motors ..you will break something before you stall them ..the second time i used it I was pushing on a pile and dozer was leaning to the right ..I noticed some fluid leaking while the machine was leaning ..After inspection i noticed it was coming from a tank vent ..they have a short piece of clear tubing connected to a barrb fiting on the top of the hydraulic tank .there is a link on rc4wd that has a good breakdown of how everything goes together ..Took everything apart and machined a slot in the bottom of the fuel tank for the tank vent tubing to tee into the filler tubing ..this seems to have fixed the problem ..make sure you vent the oil tank filler cap
When taking the panels off a lot of the allen cap screws were stripping out where the tool inserts .cheap soft steel .may want to order some decent metric hardware
You will end up reconfiguring the radio right away ..they had left stick left track right stick right track..now i run throttle on both tracks and rudder turn left and right ...not sure how you run your D11 tho .. I was having a **** of time trying to mix the radio with pump and valves ..Even Joe couldn't get it figured out I am thinking of swapping out the receiver in it soon and getting rid of that radio..I don't think Joe was very impressed with it as he didnt run it long ..He prefered the International TD 25 (:
Overall I think its a good buy for the price and you having the knowledge and skills to make it better and keep it running ..get rid of the blade and you have a nice looking scale machine ..Btw the fella from New zealand ended up buying another tilt cylinder and fittings from Eagle and installed them .He uses his machine hard .heres a link

Thanks for the link, the tracks are one of the biggest things I am interested in it for!! Hardest and most time consuming to build!! I agree with radio, that would probably one of the first things I would change. Thanks Lou!! Wonder if eagle machinery would sell just the dozer, motors, and sound unit?? ;). If anyone knows how to get ahold of Chang or whatever his name is pm me :) thanks.

What did you make your window flange from ?

This is .080 black plastic sheet ..it has a smooth finish on one side and a bit of a rough texture on the other ..I dont know where you would find something like this ..I picked it up at a used building supply place ..Demex..If you have a larger radius there is 1/8 window flange from model aircraft supplies..hard to find tho ..discontinued now ..I found some on ebay but it wouldn't work for this because of the small radius

Thanks Kent ..Window grumets are a bit of a tough one ..I am always looking for different ways to make or improve something for building models ..Imn some of the pics i posted you will notice the the fitting collars I was using were round with a rib texture ..these are the ones Leimbach produced ..some were snug and some were loose..I decided to make my own out of 1/4 inch aluminum plate ..nice snug fit ..look a little better as well
