View Full Version : Prayers for my Wife

I normally wouldn't do this, but my Wife and I were involved in a head-on collision December 29TH. Black Ice is the Culprit. A car traveling in the oppisite direction lost control and hit us head-on.
For everyone out there, please pray for my wife, Cindy Corbett. Even some positive thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
My wife got the worst of the injuries and tomorrow she will have surgery for the 5th time. After the Doctors look at her leg they will determine wether it needs to be amputated. They've tried everything they could to save her leg but it may not have been enough. It was dislocated at the knee, and with us so far in the Allegheny Mountains by the time she was transfered to Hamot in Erie, she went 8 hours with no circulation to her lower leg and foot.
Some of you met her at the ECMT Meet in Brookville in 2012. After 7 years of being together we finally tied the knot with a Halloween wedding October 25TH, 2013. I'm thankful we are alive and glad noone was killed in the accident. I only suffered a broken sternum and a sprained ankle. Nothing serious. I feel so bad for my wife and that I can't help her. So the next best thing is for me to have people wishing her well while she tries to pull through this tragey.
Thank you and God Bless.

Thank you everyone, Very much. With Cindy being 33 years old, the doctor is going to do everything in his power to save her leg. I'm thinking it's about 70% in her favor. The Dr. says there is a possibility that in the end it may come to a different ending. But so far everything is going good. Thank you very much again, I do appreciate all the support. It means alot to me. And to our kids. Thank Goodness our kids were not with us at the time of the accident. Today is the first good day in a few days. God Bless all of you. I will keep updating the best I can. Again, Thank You.

Thank you again. Cindy is in a lot of pain but she is doing very well. Hopefully only another week in Hamot and we can have her moved.
I've been updating on Facebook and we have alot of people praying for us. And I think God has heard all your prayers. Things are looking really good. She's got a long ways to go but things are progressing nicely.

For those that are following my thread, My wife was able to come home Friday. The doctor hasn't been able to Work on her heal or her knee yet. But she's doing pretty good now.
As soon as the incision can be closed up the Dr. will put a rod in her foot and a plate to help keep it sturdy and to keep it from flopping. Then after that they will work on her knee.
Thank you to all of you who have kept us in your thoughts and Prayers. We really appreciate it. And the better news is we allready found another Suburban.
Take care everyone and I pray we all stay warm and healthy in the next few weeks as we battle the frigid temperatures.

Man that is horrible. I'm glad it wasn't worse I could only imagine the outcome if it wasn't a suburban you were driving yikes. I'd be buying another one too! I'm glad she is home and with her leg. wishing you and your family the best in this difficult time.

Just a quick update. Cindy had a check-up in Erie today and the Dr. said everything is looking really good. We still have to wait for the incision to close a little more. She has another appointment in 3 weeks. Then they will decide when to put in the Rod and plate in her foot. Fixing her knee will be the last step. If I remember correctly it's a torn ACL. But we are still very grateful to be alive. Thank you everyone for all the thoughts and Prayers. See you in March!

Had a 3 week check up for Cindy yesturday in Erie, PA. things seem to be moving alone nicely. She will need a lot of physical therapy. Doctor said that next 3 week check up they will take an x-ray of her heel and hopefully she will be able to put weight on it and start using it again. It will be hard and I'm praying she does not get a drop foot. Thanks everyone for the thoughts and Prayers. They do mean alot.
Keep looking on the bright side, seems like its working

An update. Had a couple surgies in the last month. Cindy now has a cast on her leg to help keep her foot flat on the ground when she stands. As of right now she is having trouble walking but we are told that will get better with time. It's devestating to see my wife in her condition. She is so afraid she will never walk again. It seems worst then I thought. The Doctors say she is doing good and that she still has at least a year before she heals and can walk again. So we keep plugging away, Mostly happy that we are still alive. I was very happy to see everyone in Brookville. I'm hoping to make it to the New Jersey Meet. We will see. Thank you and God Bless you all.

We just passed the 4 month period since our accident and 3 months since Cindy came home. We've had a lot happen but no good news yet. Although she is trying to put weight on her knee, it's just not bending. Physical Therapy says she's improving but with putting weight on her knee, now her pain is just as bad as it was before. Even after saving her leg, the last doctor's appointment we were told that they are gonna see what happens and see how full of motion and range she has in her leg. But then we were told, this is no guarantee, there is a possibility that in 3-5 years they may have to remove her leg if there is no improvement. As of today, Her right leg from the knee down is dead. She has feeling in her foot and toes, she just cant move it. Cindy is more depressed then she's ever been. She is so afraid she will never walk again.
Thank you everyone for the continued thoughts and Prayers. As it looks now, I may be making the trip to ECLC alone. God Bless you all.

Hi everyone. Cindy and I have made it passed the 6 month mark since our accident. Cindy has come along good but we were told about 1 month ago that Cindy has made it to the point where medically there is nothing else that can be done. What she suffered from was Compartment Syndrome. She also suffered fiber damage in her knee. To walk she needs 0 degrees (Leg Straight). Cindy's leg will only go to 14 degrees. So she has to walk with her leg partly bent. She hates it, but I remind her of all the good that we still have. Two big ones are no one was killed and thank God our kids were not with us. So since our laptop stopped working I've been using my IPod for all my online stuff. It's been a freakin nightmare. We have gotten a lot of help from my parents and a few neighbors. The most appreciated help is all the Thoughts and Prayers. Thank you for everything.

Thank You Dave. I ended up buying a new laptop. I've been very busy lately and I should slow down some since the cooler weather is here. I'm in the process of building a 24X16 addition on my garage. I have a ton of things to do before winter really sets in.
