Hey All. I have been in out of RC since I was a kid (Cox snowmobile in 1970's, gas cars in 80's) and now electric with my 11 year old. He has an toy fire engine with motorized ladder (extends, rotates, elevates) and has outriggers. I'm planning to take it on and make it R/C... Not sure where to start. I bought some aluminum L for frames. I know there is a lot to learn and figure out. I have looked on web alot but not found a good starting point.

Thanks for the help and I will keep reading other posts.

David... I would pick up a King Hauler kit and a proper set of longer blank rails to make new ones and then mount your body over... Benefit to buying a kit is you can sell off what you dont need to fund your build and all the extra screws you will have to use on your build. Benefit to the proper rails and they are cheap is everything will fit right.. Is the truck you want to use the plastic Tonka ladder truck?

Well now here is another member from Indiana. I live in Kirklin but I work in Lafayette. When looking for help or some parts Larry at RC Hobbies Plus would be a good place to start he can get the truck kits and has a good selection of radios and electronics.

Thanks for the ideas! The firetruck is a Tonka. The rotation and elevation are motorized. It has lights wired too. I would like to motorized the extension and add water. I ordered a pump. I have another project started here too.
