Well there is snow everywhere, i'm bored, i need to find something to keep my self busy and not spending to much money soooooo...... for my first build on this site i though i would work on a snow plow so i decided to build a TowPlow (mostly cuz the township where i live just got one and i see it maybe ones or twice a week :p ).
So i want to make it look as close to the real thing so i might try my hand at RC hydraulics which shouldn't be to hard, I've rebuilt the hydraulic cylinders on my dads tractors before so how hard would machining a 1/14 scale cylinder be  . If anybody has any ideas or maybe any links to some online stores that sell hydraulic systems or just the pump and control valves that would be great.

Ok so this is what i'm building looks like in really life and as soon as the frame rails show up i'll have more to show and please note i don't have a 1/14 truck yet and will hopefully be buying one after i get my taxes done and i'll be doing a build on making it in to a dump truck/sander truck to go with said towplow.

Ummmmm don't ya need a truck to pull the plow? Lol.......just kidding.....that should be cool. I have seen these used on the PA pike......pretty cool to see it dog tracking down the highway.

State of Utah, has a bunch of those tow plows, neat to see them on city streets!
Cheers, Neil.

Cool idea for a build. I've seen Youtube videos of these, but never in person. Does it also spread sand/salt or is that just a hopper to add weight for plowing purposes?

The ones I have seen had liquid tanks. I think they use the liquid for weight and they can spray it to help melt the snow after it was just plowed....

This will be a neat build, will have to keep an eye on it. I would like to no what kind if any sensation you get driving the truck towing it, just seems like it might make the back of the truck dance a bit?! Good luck on your build and have fun!

In this area they have liquid tanks well. The tanks will be used to spray beet juice as a substitute to salt. The truck pulling the outfit sprays salt/sand.

The liquid they spray is called brine and it's a salt based antifreeze that's used to substitute salt like you said.

If its anything like driving a tractor with a square baler out the side it's going to feel like it wants to pull to the side it will be plowing. I'll let you know what it's like to drive and post up some testing videos for you.

 I have never seen anything like this before but I guess it seems really practical with one truck doing 2 lanes. With all the snow across the country right now one of these in rc would be very cool.

Need an update - can't let this one go by the way side!

Update Update yes an update  i have the frame rails from rc4wd that im going to use for it but i do not have the money at the moment to get a king hauler :( I don't have a 1/14 scale truck so as soon as i can get one (or someone has one i can buy cheap ;) ) i will start building it but until then i will be collecting parts for it. Don't worry i'm not giving up on this build just short on funding for my toys.
