Check out this article about the new walmart fleet. Truck looks crazy.
The trailer has 53' one piece carbon fiber panels.

Hmmm well I don't think It comes with mirrors? Not going to be easy for the fresh out of driving school guys to back up to the dock!

Haven't you gotten the memo?? They're replacing mirrors with cameras!!

I think it's a BAD IDEA!!!!! I mean, when you break one where do you get it fixed for under $30 and if you get ice or mud on one how do you see with it??????? NOT to mention that us drivers are used to mirror placement and will still look to the old mirror locations in a panic in bad traffic. OUCH!!!!!

..and it's not just the mirrors. All modern vehicles come with large, complicated, expensive to replace panels (I wonder how much it would cost to replace a 53-foot one piece carbon panel on that Walmart truck!! ...carbon breaks, it doesn't get dented like metal..). These things are simply not suited for all the little dents and accidents that occur in every day usage..

I asked a good friend of mine who is a Walmart store manager and she says the managers above her have upcoming meetings about these trucks. And she also said she was already aware of them.
Sounds like these trucks may be on the road sooner than we think.

hey with modern technology, you see how the ford cars park themselves ...take a look at the truck version.i wouldn't be surprised if they driver just pulls up to the dock..opens the doors and puts it in reverse and with the gazzillion different sensors on the trailer...voila!!! it parks itself..although if it hits someone or something in the process.who do you blame ?here is the scenerio driver vs his truck in the courtroom...reports from the truck blackbox say: the driver entered the wrong info...driver says :the truck cut it too close ...your honour:lol:..i will drive my old school kenworth any day of the week forever as long as i still get parts instead of some crappy technological nightmare like this..i bet there will be a special space suit/uniform you have to wear when you drive this:lol:
