Here is my excavator it is a 4200 from RC4WD. I bought it minus some hyd parts but I have replaced them and have it back up and running. It is set up with the newer 4 valve set up with RC4wd’s pump and motor. I set mine up with the forth valve as an unloder and mixed it to the pump for a soft start set up. I run it on7.2v and it runs fine other than the track speed being a little slow. I plan to put a 4:1 gear reducted motor on the pump so I can bump it back up to 12v. The gear reduction and 12V will accomplish two things I will be able to run the esc full throttle so I am not heating it up and the gear reduction will allow me to do that and start the pump under a load if needed. The slower pump speed and the unloader valve will make the excavator much smoother to operate.

I am using a DX10 that I had bought for my big wrecker project. I love the radio it has so much versatility. With all of the mixes you can mix and make it do almost anything you want and it is expandable to 18 channels.
Yay it's altogether , in time for the Oct event.

Small update I played with the excavator in the yard fixing the spot where the town fixed a water line in our yard. I have now decided to take it apart and do some painting as well as putting on the new style cylinders and upgrading the motor on the pump to a 4:1 gear reducted out runner. I have not decided on a color yet but I may paint it gray to match my Izzy dozer. Here is a pic of me playing in the yard and a pic of the tear down.

Thanks I really like the excavator and just wanted to paint it to change it up a little. During taking it apart it is odd to see how they were so precise on some things and not others. The newer ones with the forth valve and updated cylinders are nice models. The only other improvement I could suggest they make is some sort of gear reduction between the motor and pump like the Vario and others use this is also one of the upgrades I am doing while I have it apart. It was defiantly a plus when the added the forth valve which makes the hyd system more like the real machines acting like a variable output pump. With the upgrades they have done it makes the new one hard to beat for the price and will be a good model for the general hobbyist or you could be like Martin on you tube (digging with martin) and just abuse the heck out of it and it just keeps going like the energizer bunny.

Did you price the new cylinders as a set or the older cylinders? I bought the new ones as a set from rcbrmin and there is a big difference in the old and new. They are defiantly making strides to make things better. I was surprised to see that the used the machinist blue to fit the body and frame parts together so they do take some care in putting it together. Just like all places they are learning as they go.

The stock setup used in the newest version and with some tuning on the radio it works realy well.

For the openings I am going to make some louvered panels. The color is grey MACK gray to be specific and from now on this will be the color of my equipment. I have a dozer in this color and I have been thinking of repainting my loader to match as well as the new Tonka grader build.

I still have some straitening up to do but have been asked what I am running for power so here are the pics. I am running the stock set up that come in the newest version with one change I am using an AXI motor with a 4:1 reduction so I can keep the rpm up and keep the ESC cool.
