Re: Screeners
Yes, thanks for sharing Joe. I especially liked the second video. That bruder conversion loader performed pretty good:). Can't wait to get mine out in the yard :D

You betcha guys! Here's another nifty setup.
Add the ones you find on the net to this thread too. ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIsUv6d_Klk |

Re: Screeners
Hey Joe, are you familiar with Orbit Screens? http://www.orbitscreens.com/ Would be simple to build, use kitchen colander's for the screen, http://www.amazon.com/OXO-Grips-5-Qu...ander+strainer

Re: Screeners
I never seen that before Neil... definitely different!

Re: Screeners
I really love the videos / layouts where there is an attempt to provide a "mission" for the equipment. The quarry and sand pit style setups are very interesting!
Really like that four stage drum screen with the bins under it and that portable unit is really cool! Thanks for finding those videos guys! Jim |
Re: Screeners
I haven't watched all the videos on here, appologies if these are a repost

Re: Screeners
That looks & sounds like an impactor Lou... nifty model!
I got my jaw crusher on Friday, I've been hand feeding rocks into it the last couple days, some rocks are little harder to break than others, some won't break! and I have to fish them out. The 2x2 inch opening, pretty small and half the rock pile is much bigger than that! I'm tempted to buy a much bigger one yet cause busting rock is freaking awesome!!! :D I got me self some scale gravel now. :D :D :D Even putting the pea-size lumpy clay after it has been downsized from the dirt lump crusher is super fun, fines the dirt to powder... I'm working on building a bunch of conveyers atm for various tasks, now to add a couple more to make this Lil worker hands free too. |

Re: Screeners
Joe,
I would love to see a few pictures of a conveyer during your build process. I'm working on a clam bucket now for the crane, and conveyer is next on the list. Jim |
Re: Screeners
Yes I have Neil, long time ago... I may incorporate something similar to that idea shortly in between the dirt lump crusher & the now small jaw crusher to get the entire mined dirt consistently fined for export. I'm working at changing how the dirt leaves my basement for yr round export.
All I got so far Jim is a few drive rollers turned on the lathe from 1.5" steel... cnc would be good to have right now for this medial task to speed up the process! Not much to building the conveyer itself... my biggest hold back all these yrs was finding the right material for an endless belt loop, and I think I may have it now with cutting the outer circumference from a 15" tire tube. Some tubes have parting - mold lines on them, cut with scissors & get a fairly perfect cut for a 2" or 3" width, some have the lines spaced at 4" or so. I went to the local tire shop & picked thru his scrap pile of junked tubes... I've cut about a dozen rubber belts of varying lengths & with different thicknesses too (affects how much I need to stretch them for a firm fit). I even sourced a short belt from a small garden tractor tire tube to make a 8 - 10" feeder conveyer. oops... said too much already :o spoil my own thunder with the unveiling of new gadgets in the Lil Giants quarry later this summer or fall. :D ...big down pour the last hour, maybe I'll have the day off tomorrow to widdle away at it some more. Dreamt all this up while I was sitting on the seeder the past couple weeks, a great way to make the day go by, this great hobby we all enjoy! :) |
Re: Screeners
Joe,
Thanks for the report. I was going to try a bicycle tube and cut to length and seam it back together for length. Not sure how I was planning to do the joint. Don't forget, the rest of us planning on a conveyer will benefit from the problems you work through. Jim |

Hey Joe, that's a neat screening set up! Got side tracked by this Claus video, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E24b7z-NOM

Re: Screeners
Quite the elaborate & dedicated system Neil. My dad & I did it this way, the two of us could pit 500mt in a couple days. ;)

Re: Screeners
That what you are planning joe? looks like fun, if you have something like that ready just say the word and I'm on my way to the great white north!
Jim |
Re: Screeners
...it is, as of today Jim, the great white north again... a time for indoor activities once again. If you're referring to a crushing screening plant, then yes, I'm working on that... albeit at a snail's pace. I'll start working on building the interior of my workshop this week... you looking for a job, you say... carpentry/electrical skills? sure, com'on up. :D

Re: Screeners
Joe,
Have you gotten a dirt lump crusher running? I am thinking about that along with some new conveyors to go with my new bigger dragline. I'm interested in any home built dirt crusher and screeners if anyone has pic or videos of such. Jim |
Re: Screeners
8th scale jaw crusher... finally some decent footage on this crusher, the only other vid I've seen of this crusher was 29 seconds, like 5yrs ago. I've looked for a build thread of this crusher on forums... it must have been posted somewhere.

Re: Screeners
I have recently been watching screener and crusher videos again. One that pops often is the doppstadt 620. Is this being produced and sold by someone or is it a scratch built one that I'm seeing?
Here is a link to one of the videos. http://youtu.be/zhjS0PLJbpQ Jim |
Re: Screeners
That's an impressive screener! I believe they are built by this gentleman

Re: Screeners
Jim, You got my gears turning on this subject since last weekend. I've been pouring over my crusher screener literature dug out of my archives. Can't make up my mind which way to go. Those trommels look pretty productive watching some of the videos out there but I sort a like the shaker sceeners.
|
Re: Screeners
ya thats the caddilac of trommels! I'm sure its scratch built.
its on the list of things to make |
