Reworking the fenders, so I get a second attempt at getting the rear steps right.

Re: some excavator questions... esc, bec, radio and battery

4: As long as the number of cells / voltage is correct, you're safe. 25c vs 1c together with the thicker wires means it can safely handle a higher current load.

Re: Wiring up a Receiver

I can make an educated guess based on page 10 and 11 of the manual here: http://www.ripmax.com/Instructions/p-cb6l.pdf

I believe the standard setup with steering on right stick and throttle+gear...

Re: Scania airport fire truck

Thank you!

I sprayed the bumper with TS-63 Nato black while painting some other body parts with TS-29 semi gloss black. Turns out bringing out two cans of different blacks is a bad idea. This is a...

Re: Let the build begin. Coach bus.

I have a strong memory of thanking you for thanking you for the tip about filing curved edges, and complimenting the very nice clean cutouts on the motor panel, but I can't see any evidence that I...

Re: Scania airport fire truck

That's a good idea. I also need to add a bundle of fake hydraulic pipes and a thick water hose which should help. Counter sunk screws might help too.

After hours of trying to make functional scale...

Re: 3D Printing Test

Thank you for the very thorough answer! I'm currently paying 2-3 times of that for styrene, so that would negate any cost advantage. And I agree 100% on the torture of making a part more than once.

Re: Scania airport fire truck

Second attempt at making headlight guards. My 30w soldering iron struggled with heating that 1,5mm copper wire. Not sure how to mount them on the truck though.

Re: 3D Printing Test

Very impressive "sciencing". I wonder how this would compare to laminating cutouts from styrene plates, both in price and strength.

Re: Scania airport fire truck

As far as I can tell, the front winch / monitor / rescue platform mount is mounted to the chassis through the lower grille on the real thing. To replicate that directly I would have to do some...

Re: Scania airport fire truck

Thanks for the links! That Oshkosh 8x8 looks fantastic.

I've spent the last couple of weeks fighting the urge to rebuild the rear sections. After making them last year, I've since found some...

Re: 1930s dumptruck - Nylint

Very nice work on the servo mount design. Looking forward to see the final iteration. Do you have any plans for building something with the new WPL 6x6 chassis?

2019 update:

This paint is not consistent between production batches. I now have cans from 3 batches, and they all have slightly different colors. The newer cans are easier to work with though....

For the record, if it helps troubleshooting, the forum is super fast for me in Norway 99% of the time, using Edge or Chrome on Windows between 4pm and 8 pm EST.

Re: Scania airport fire truck

That is the true skill to master. It's so difficult to throw away something you've worked on for weeks, but sometimes you just have to start fresh. The next time will always be easier.

I'm hoping...

If I don't split this into multiple posts, the forum page is going to end up miles long and very bandwidth heavy.

Re: Why can't companies figure out scale?

That does indeed look very off scale. How wide is the M35? The internet suggests 14 cm. Wikipedia says 236 cm for the real thing. There's obviously a lot of wiggle room depending on if it's wheel to...

Re: 1/14 scale European Race Truck?

This sounds like a fun project!
For the record, the tamiya race truck on a TT-01 sedan chassis you mentioned is 1/14 for the body. If you want a lightweight body to actually race, it looks like it...
