I had the same idea to place on a angle to clear the dirt. If it's straight across all the fines will bunch up and get by the brush.
Which reminds me, had a crazy thought as I'm sitting looking around my man cave and saw some wiper blades I've been collecting to use as treads on the conveyor if needed. I might try to use a wiper blade? I'll take some pics and show you what I mean.
