Like your clamps, great idea. I agree with you that the cost of the commercial "welding" clamps is insane. I usually buy the cheapest Harbor Freight clamps I can find for welding. Like you, just want to hold parts in alignment. Burn up a HF clamp or three it's no big loss. Also like the handrail ideal. How are you going to attach the stanchions to the pads?
