Excellent Job Reg, You Loader is taking shape very nicely, I like your attention to detail!

Thanks guys. It makes the machine look bigger to me. They don't look as scale as the Mil Spec tires but I don't think they look too bad and the price was right. They are really soft too so traction should be very good. I was concerned that they would get too much bite on the shop floor and not steer but they actually turn better than the stock tires. It even has a little realistic bounce to it now! Pouring down rain here today so no outside tests yet I guess.

Brian, did you get the bucket on yours yet?

Yes sir I did thank you, its a great piece of Art, you sell yourself short when you say your not a master, because in my eyes you have succeeded in doing things to aluminum only a few ppl can do. You have my vote! Ill post pics when im done making all the modifications to it.

Thanks Brian. I'm glad you like the bucket! I appreciate the boost in confidence also. My expectations for myself are very high so I am always wishing I had done something a little bit differently. I think I need to seek professional help

I bought them on eBay. Just searched 1.9 crawler tires and found them. I think they were around $14 US with free shipping. Really happy with the quality for the price. There were also ones available with rims for not much more but I wanted to make my own. Goes to show how much money RC4WD is making off of us!

Tired loading some dirt this evening with the new tires. I have been drying some gravel in the shop for weeks and it was pouring outside so I made this haywire little deal in the back of my pickup. Fun for the loader, boring for the Hayes. The loader works great with the new tires and wheels. It does steer a little harder with a bucket of dirt but once it's rolling slightly it works great! For a conversion I really enjoy playing with this.

Very nice job Reg but as all thr rest it lacks reach to get over the sides of the box and dump and come back with out hitting the box. You had to have a ramp like all the rest. Ed

Yeah the difference in scale doesn't work in their favor that's for sure. Oh well, it is what it is.

I'm confused? My loader clears the box with no ramp at all. With full up and bucket dumped I can still just clear the box edge. I've got no cheater boards on my truck but surprised to see you need such a ramp.
It must be my hyd cylinders have more range than the firgelli actuators ?

Yes, I believe yours lifts a bit higher than mine. It will load my KH OK with no side boards but the Hayes box is quite a bit taller. The truck itself is also taller by almost 1/4" because of the reworked suspension. The way I have the actuators mounted is great for power but not for stroke. It won't sit the bucket flat on the ground either but I was determined not to cut the loader anymore than necessary. I definitely don't need to have that large of a ramp but it was built for something else and does the trick temporarily.

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here the last three days so I threw some paint at the wheels and bucket this morning. I have some slower gear motors coming so it may have to come apart soon for that but otherwise I consider this to be done!

The loader looks great Reg! But do me a favour and get rid of that awful, ugly plastic exhaust stack!

FYI. If you have a stock Tamiya exhaust tip laying around, they fit nicely over top the plastic one.

While I am still holding out on Mario's exhaust request I did finally receive my order from China that contained the new slower gear motors for this today. After work I made the swap and was very pleased with the results! I went from 133rpm to 77rpm and I think it is the perfect speed!

Just giving a heads up on another spot for metal rather than plastic.
The new motors definitely have a much better speed and I can see why you like this build, it works pretty darn good!

I didn't wish to break it but I just did.... Bucket curl actuator gave up the ghost. It stopped working if run all the way in at first and then died completely shortly afterwards. I think maybe the circuit board/limiter thingy burnt out??? I guess I am no longer using this until I can visit with Ian and buy a replacement.

Your "tip" to change out the exhaust is a good one Mario. I just haven't made up the piece yet. I wish the whole thing was metal... If I had more time for my own projects it would be having an all metal cousin sitting next to it in the very near future. I still enjoy running the hoe more but the wheel loader is a blast too! I just wish it was a touch more industrial...

Cool! I cut the axles in half and stuck the stub in the drill holding the tire in my hand. Creates a little heat and pulls right apart. I tried to do it by hand but couldn't get them to budge. Hope that makes sense and helps.
