I added the other piece to the rear of the deck just now...

Here, you can see what the deck looks like with the mounting screws...

I agree Wayne. I need to buy some bezels from someone so that I know what size holes to drill. If someone wanted to buy one of these I would drill the holes so that they could buy lights from one of the other Vendors and install them.

Very clever & well thought out. Big Thumbs up!

As for the bezels, 13/64ths for the 3mm & 5/16ths for the 5mm (on True scale website)

Could you make some ally tool boxes? would love some for my spread axle, depending on cost & shipping to France of course!

Thanks Stu. I checked their website this morning and got the measurements but thanks for letting me know.

I would be interested in seeing what you want as far as the toolboxes. Maybe we can figure something out that makes us both happy.

I made up these little D rings today for tie downs on the deck. I think it is almost ready for a coat of black and some stain.

Sorry Wayne...A little bead blasting, some low gloss black and some cherry stain later, I have this! I think it looks better painted and by Monday I should have more scale reflective strips than I know what to do with so I will add them to this for a more realistic look.

The paint was barely even dry and Santa had the truck in service hauling him and the strangest looking reindeer I have ever seen around the house! He must be doing a pre-Xmas survey of our house so that he knows where to put our gifts....or coal.

Thanks for looking and Merry Christmas to everyone!

Reg It is not that I do not like the power coat, it look great, mostly more real world. I just like polished Aluminum better..

Yeah I understand Wayne. I like the raw look too. I figured since no one has expressed an interest in these that I would be keeping it and wanted to see what it would look like painted black with stained boards. I think once the reflective tape is added it will look a little more realistic too. In the new year I plan to order some lights for it but for now it will probably just sit on the shelf.

Other than possibly adding some lights later on, the flatdeck is finished! If anyone is interested in this or something similar, please let me know. I would be happy to make one for you!

Thanks guys. I think you hit the nail right on the head Ben. My goal with this was to make a flatdeck that was super simple and could be put on and taken off in no time making the truck more versatile. I know it would look better with working lights and a full frame underneath but that would just make it more complex. I would like to build another one with more detail in the future but may do a trailer first if I can find some wheels.

I had the KH dump truck out yesterday for a bit. My excavator is down with a blown track drive so I used my old 1/10 scale 955K to load the truck this time. It was actually kinda fun and the truck performed really well although it would have been better with some company.
