Side dump, useing some first run shop parts
Awhile back, built a side dump trailer from scratch. Seems a few people really liked it. So figured maybe see if these can be made w/out costing a fortune. Took my first one into shop, made a few changes,& had them make up some parts for this baby.
Picked up the formed & lazered parts a few days ago & started to build another trailer. First the frame assembly. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...mppics5352.jpg Should of had them make this plate for king pin,but wasn't sure if I was going to taper the frame the same as the last one. So had to make this one,it's some long long cuts w/a scroll saw. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...mppics5353.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...mppics5355.jpg This one is a triple axle like the last, but this time gunna run floaters on the front axle. Not quit sure if I like the looks of it. http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...mppics5357.jpg http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...mppics5356.jpg Thanks for lookin! Re: Side dump, useing first run shop parts
I agree with you on the looks of the front axle. I don't recall ever seeing a trailer with floats on the front axle. I have seen some with a lifting 3rd axle with floats. Either way this is still a sweet trailer. Are you still going to use hydros or linear actuators?
|
Re: Side dump, useing first run shop parts
I like what you are doing with my trailer but I dont like the float front axle needs to be a normal front axle not a single.
|
Re: Side dump, useing first run shop parts
I agree with Paul the third axle needs to be duals.

Re: Side dump, useing first run shop parts
looks like your off to a get start with the new parts

Re: Side dump, useing first run shop parts
Freddy - nice use of sub plates for the legs, single and double suspensions......

very sweet!!!
also in your picture http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/n...mppics5357.jpg I saw trailers like that on my way up to Edmonton, Alberta. At first i was like what the heck are they doing?? then now you say floaters i think i get it. I dont get is why a trailer from the deep south would be up here in the deep north with floaters lol. |

Dang Freddy.. I knew after all the talking on the phone and you saying you want to be able to do this I knew you would figure out a way..Great job any video yet..
|
Re: Side dump, useing some first run shop parts
Very cool! I wasn't the one who asked how you would remotely switch the side the tub dumps to, but I appreciate the video. That is some really nice machine and design work on your part. So when are you going to build for the 1/16 scale Wedico crowd?
|
Re: Side dump, useing some first run shop parts
Ain't no stoppin' you Freddy...salt throwers...PTO driven dump bodies...side dumper (both sides, thank you)...can't wait to see what's next!! (Maybe you'll finish one of 'em...ha ha). :p:D:D

Re: Side dump, useing some first run shop parts
lookin good fred...
|
Re: Side dump, useing some first run shop parts
It's pretty nice, but will it have the strength to hold the respective pivot in place? I was thinking more along the lines of a retracting hinge pin.
|
Re: Side dump, useing some first run shop parts
Thanks Guys!
