I used some "board & batten" used for model rail road buildings as the ribs on my KH hood. Should be able to get it at any hobby shop. Forget the size and I can get you some pics if you would like...

Micro mark has some kind of coating you can put on 3D printed parts to smooth all the graininess and its paintable. Not sure how well it works, but could be worth a shot.

I use the springs out of sheet rock anchors. You can get them at any hardware store.

I did that to my flatbed trailer. Seems to work alright, but I wouldn't take it off road. Sits a little too close to my fenders. There are picks of it in my "globe" build thread.

Bob, the rails are 1/64"x3/16" K&S flat bar stock and the spacers are 1/8"x1/4" rectangle tube, also K&S. Hope this helps!
