Re: Any Speed Boat guys here?

BRICKNICK-I spent about 25 years seriously racing model boats. Traveled all over the U.S. competing, but in the nitro boats. I also did some R&D work in FE (fast electric) and set a few IMPBA records...

Re: Lattice Boom Crane Build (Wood)

I like your lathe jim :D. Working with what you have is a phrase a lot of people need to learn. Hang in there- you'll get it. Will the entire crane be built from wood?

Re: Lattice Boom Crane Build (Wood)

Looks good jim-I was going to suggest that you use the kicker spray bottle with the CA to make it instant glue and make the job go a lot faster but looks like it is a bit too late now. Your almost...

Re: Lattice Boom Crane Build (Wood)

Your off to a good start jim-wood is a smart choice to build with. It is easy to work with and is strong if done correctly. I have always used wood to experiment with things I wasn't sure about how...

Re: Tonka Dozer conversion

buzzy16-I would agree that you need to use some sort of power blasting on this model. I don't think you will ever be able to sand all that rust off and if you don't get it clean the rust will just...

Re: Working out how many track links

buzzy16-your welcome-glad I could help. Going by your numbers this may be a small model to get in hydraulics.,but that's your call. Good luck with the build and post lots of pictures.

Re: Working out how many track links

buzzy16-Do the math-figure the circumference of the track circle. Then if you know the size of your pads, measure the distance between pin centers and divide it out. This should get you close but you...

Re: Chris-Craft COBRA

Fhhhstix-I noticed in some of the framing pics that the stringers are not making good smooth curves but that is part of the building process. You have to correct some of the factory mistakes. I...

Re: Another BC fishing vessel...

Your making good progress-you work really fast. I read at the top this is modeled after your full size boat. I was wondering how you got all this detail. Nice work. Also, forgot to mention- In...

Re: Another BC fishing vessel...

RCP57-To make a high quality fiberglass mold is not really that hard but there are a few things that need to be done correctly. However, looks like you just needed a-1-time mold and that worked out...

Re: Another BC fishing vessel...

RCP57-a classic "rookie" mistake of trying to get a release from body filler :D. If you had painted the plug with lacquer primer or a resin-based catalyst primer before waxing you would have got an...

Re: How to make lids for hopper barges?

Jim-I have many years experience working with fiberglass molds, male and female molds and parts and I have also done some vacuum parts from plastic so I think they are both easy to do. Depending on...

Re: Servo Controlled Coupler

Jim-that is a very simple yet unique idea. Saves a lot of getting down on your knees to hook & unhook. Nice job.

Re: Barge Unloading Facility Build

The silo would be a nice addition to your "mini diorama". I noticed on one of the loading videos that you were having a hard time with the dragline keeping up with the conveyor. Just need more...

Re: Barge Unloading Facility Build

Jim-I think you got it! Looks perfect to me. Is your motor set-up waterproof or is it portable so you can get it out of the weather. Do you know how long it takes to load-1-barge with the conveyor?...

Re: Barge Unloading Facility Build

Jim- what you have seems to work pretty well. If you need more travel just make a longer drum and support the outer end. The-2-drum idea? I think that will be trouble-(just my opinion). I always say...

Re: Barge Unloading Facility Build

Jim-I don't have an answer for your drum problem. But on the switches I think you can use the push-button switch if you use the-6-pole double throw switch for the polarity reversing. Cut one wire...

Re: Barge Unloading Facility Build

Jim-I think it will work with the-2- switches but you may need to use-3- pole switches and still use the-X-method. You can figure it out:D

Re: Barge Unloading Facility Build

Jim-looks like you have everything planned out good. As for the switch-you can do this with-1- switch. You need a-6-pole double throw switch and X the wires from pos. to neg. Kinda hard to explain...

Re: Conveyer Build

Rvjimd-I know nothing about conveyers but looks like your off to a good start. I would agree that you need something to help keep the material on the belt. Keep at it!
