A small bit of progress on the crane. I made this service hatch, I don't know what it's supposed access on the real machine but it should come in handy to access the winch motors or a battery.

I took this drawing and used the measurements at the top and did some quick scaling to get the dimension for the swing ring. It should be accurate if the drawing is to scale, all you have to do is...

Yes the plan is to use broaching to cut the swing gear. I only have a lathe so I'm going to use a profile tool in a boring bar holder and just slowly scrape away until I get to the right tooth depth...

The plan is to get the swing mechanism as close to the real machine as I can. So I'm going to machine a custom swing ring and cut internal gear teeth in to it just like the deal.

Micro servos can draw up to 400 ~ 450mA and standard servos can draw up to 2.5 ~ 3A when stalled. Most LEDs draw 20mA, so doing some math 400mA / 20 = 20 we can determine that a micro servo control...
