I made a cover for it. I will use some clear silicone to seal it up when I get the bearings installed:

Hi Scott this is fantastic, well thought out and has a lot of protential for 6x6 users. Can you please tell me where you bought the gears from. This is what I have been searching for. All I need to do now is find a way to disconnect the front drive.

I used two 18 tooth pinion gears (5mm bore) http://cgi.ebay.com/Traxxas-Tra5644-...efaultDomain_0 and one 22 tooth pinion gear http://cgi.ebay.com/Traxxas-E-Maxx-2...ts_Accessories The size of the center gear will not change the ratio as long as the 2 outside gears are the same. So, you could run a 28t 32p gear for the idler gear and that would lower the final output shaft a little. 28t 32pitch 5mm bore gear: http://cgi.ebay.com/CASTLE-CREATIONS...ts_Accessories

Steve, When I said "would lower the final output shaft a little." I meant lower the height of the output shaft

Thanks for your info Scott, I just ordered this morning from RC4WD a disconect unit and some gears so I will play around with it when they arrive. All part of the enjoyment I suppose.
