possible reflectors or lenses
Been thinking about this for a little bit, figured I'd go ahead and try it to see how it looked. These are some of the little lenses that I "borrowed" from my kids lego stuff. drilled a hole in some styrene and mounted the lego lenses. I was thinking that they would make cool reflectors or possible light lenses.
What do you guys think. The back side

Re: possible reflectors or lenses
That's a cool idea, and i've thought about this myself. But my concern is the word "lego" showing. How did you remove the raised part?

Re: possible reflectors or lenses
I didn't remove anything from these. the one pic shows the letters but i don't think they are raised, i'll have to double check. If it is you coulcld probably use fine grit sandpaper to remove

Re: possible reflectors or lenses
I use parts anywhere I can find them. Insulin bottles, empty medicine containers, left over wood from projects around the house... anything that I can find useful. It just takes a little imagination.
I like the looks of the Lego "reflector/lights". It's a good idea and is possibly cost effective. I purchased similar lights that were operational from Radio Shack for just a couple of dollars for my Knight Hauler. - RCT

Re: possible reflectors or lenses
Lego light lenses can be flipped either way. If you use the lenses one way, the Lego logo shows, and is raised up slighty, but if you flip the lenses the other way, the Lego logo is mostly hidden, and the lenses are sunken in. Of course you'll still see the Lego logo, if you look hard enough, but it will be backwards, when viewed from behind. I think that's why you can't see the raised bump, which would attach to a Lego brick. He's got them inserted into the styrene backwards, techincally, or else he has them inserted the right way, but he only drilled the hole large enough to accept the little bump, and the rest of the lense is hidden behind the styrene.

Re: possible reflectors or lenses
I drilled the hole for the smaller bump thinking it would look flush to the outside. I think it's a 3/16 hole and its a tight fit, no glue needed. I also held up a 5mm led to the backside and it would sit in the hollow part just need a way to hold led in place
