DADSGARAGE-truck looks great. Turning radius is good, speed may be a bit slow but can be easily fixed. Have you calculated what the scale speed should be (ft. per sec.)? Keep the pictures coming.

Wow, that looks fantastic. Steering seems to work just fine even without a rear differential. I cant wait to see this truck loaded to the gills lumbering up a haul road.

[QUOTE=RCP57;100416]Wooo-hooo! Looks good and just in time to haul presents to the Xmas tree! I sure like the size of that. I don't think the speed is too bad? I guess you could always up you voltage or change the front sprocket if you thought it wasn't fast enough.
Thanks.....it was nice being able to see this thing move around a bit, even if it is a bit slow, hopefully it will have enough power to move with a full load....I did try it with some weight on it but the rear tires are almost running flat because I only have foam in them now...they need air or more foam, deal with that later.... It is alive...well almost...finally remember to get vid of it...funny how tricky it is to hold the camera and radio at the same time, good thing I wasn't chewing gum...LOL...glad the pail was helpful I put it down for two reasons...get some idea of it's size and show the turn radius. It does seem to turn alright but this is with no load on concrete and no air in the rear tires,I think the tires might be slipping on the rims...one more thing to figure out later.... |

This is a really cool truck! Access to the waterjet really helps with correct dimensions and repetitive cuts - and with great accuracy.
I've re-read all the pages and did not see a reference to where to got the inside steering gear sector.?.? Saw the servo info with pinion gear. Did you make the big gear sector? Anyway, awesome truck. Ken

Hi Ken glad you like the truck so far......yes the steering segment arm is also cut with a waterjet, a 32P internal spur gear is about the smallest the machine will cut and the root section of the gear is a bit off, the reason is the size of the kerf cut by the nozzle which is about .030" so that means the smallest radius it can cut is half that size or .015"...Hope this makes sence... Here are a couple more pics of the steering gear set up.....a few things need to be done with it yet....I just have bolt in it now and still need to make a better pivot shaft for it etc......
