I borrowed a few small bits from work, brass shims 1.5 mm thick and super glued two pieces top and bottom in the main diff gear bearing housings , makes a nice sung fit, no way the bearings are going to move around now.
I measured the bearings and then the housing and found about 2.5mm of difference!
not exactly a precision casting, but all good now.
