Got some painting done.l Had to put some parts together to see how its looking. I like it

Looks good with the color on. Did you use some kind of primer on the blade to keep the paint on when starting to push dirt?

Wow looks killer!! Same question about priming, I assume you were using petroleum based cat paint? Was wondering about it melting the abs. I've never painted any 3d parts, but plan on in future, thanks for sharing, your doing an amazing job!!!! Can't wait to see it pushing

Yes I definitely primed everything with Rustoleum Self Etching primer. After doing some scratch tests on ABS, i found the Self Etch Primer held up the best. But Krylon primer Ive used many times before without any issue. I felt better about the Etching primer on this build being everything was going to see abrasion....But its a dozer, its not supposed to stay looking pretty for ever. If the paint wears off, im fine with that. I also topcoated everything with Rustoleum Satin Clearcoat. It helps for sure, and i like the way it takes the shine away. Ive always thought models look better on the dull side, seems to highlight detail.

Got my replacement motors today, so im redesigning the mounts to accommodate the larger motor cans. Tracks are painted and curing over night. hope to be testing the motors tomorrow. I hope these are stronger- 194.4 oz-in. @ (12VDC), we shall see..

Looks great with some paint, the finish turned out very well! I agree with the matte-ish finish, looks more realistic.

Got most of the assembly done, and took advantage of the nice day to snap a few pics outside. Need to work on some electronics and should have it on the move soon.

I notice your missing one thing on the paint job or just on the to do list. You need to add the red stripe that runs along the hood line and makes the black and yellow come together nice.

I noticed you didn't paint the idler tubes. Nice touch

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to win the lotto so that I can afford a printer! I'm not saying I have the skills to put it to this kind of use but man it would be fun to try! While I'm dreaming I would like a CNC mill and a waterjet.

Thanks Mario, I haven't finished the detailing yet but did forget about the red accent. I will def add that. The idler tubes needed to not be painted in order to function, i agree it looks cool.

Thanks Reg. I could use a cnc plasma table, much more affordable. Could open up some possibilities.

You should try autodesk 123d design. It's an easy program to help get started in designing your own stuff.. It's what I use, practice, practice, practice. 😄

Thank you! I'm a fan of your YouTube videos and machines.👍🏻 Prob about a month and a half. I'd say design took me a week or so, printing took about 2 weeks, and assembly about another 2 weeks. Just about done now, just finishing up a few details.

No trailer queen here, I don't see any real issues with strength other than maybe the track pads and sprockets wearing out, but that's realistic in a way. 1:1 dont last forever either. I used #4 drill bushings on all the working joints and after running it around a bit and pushing some chunks of 6x6 on the shop floor, it will push some dirt nicely I think.
