Interesting that with the reduced price on the ver 1.5 1400XL that you say buy. I have seen a few things that concern me about that, but I guess this is an entry point and I should expect to replace the drive units with the upgrade one of the members here does for the drive units.

What else is sub-par and need better components to perpetually please me?

Additionally, an excavator does not 'drive' around all over the place, usually just moves a little from one area to another....and if movement occurs with digging, just go perpendicular to the tracks to get around that. So not so sure how important that is to me in the beginning.

I actually plan on a very long term project of terracing my back yard hill which is about a 45-60 degree hillside. I figure 5 or 6 years to do this. LOL

Hard digging perpendicular will just drag it sideways, you need the length of the tracks to keep you planted!

Sounds like my kind of digging project!

And the Vario hoe will give you a much greater enjoyment in digging power & virtually maintenance free than that rc4wd/eagle machinery piece of crap ever will!
