Thanks, when I named it that my plan was to use a Wedico Peterbilt cab. That did not happen but even still the only parts that are Tamiya right now are the frame rails, floorboards and spring shackles. Everything else is aftermarket, different brands.

Tekin 45T Motor, Integy 3 Speed and PMD 4:1 Reduction. The transmission is really nothing that impressive, all aluminum but it fits like the factory one, I like that.

I'm hoping for this truck to have some kind of a lowboy or drop deck someday, really like to get an RC4WD lowboy for it. Anyways I love my rear suspension kit but the truck always seemed a little bit soft to me in the back, I have seen on this forum where ground clearance on that lowboy is a real issue as well as the weight of that lowboy compressing all of the trucks springs. This had me thinking.......I need strong or more springs. Well, a big THANK YOU goes out to Bo Wallen who sold me an extra pair of leaf springs identical to the ones on my truck, this saved me from having to buy another rear suspension kit for parts. I took the leaf set apart, removed all of the spacers and replaced them with a second leaf of each length. I cut the second leaves off at the bend on each end so basically when it was all done my springs now have longer spacers in them which removed a lot of the flex. My springs are no taller than they were before just stiffer.
Top spring is before, bottom is after my modification. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Claus; 01-07-2017 at 03:39 AM. |
