Im am thinking that you could make the pump mount so that it also supports a bearing block on the opposite side of your belt pulley..you will need some support there anyways as there will be some force pulling on your shaft

Thanks for your replies, both good advice, I have decided to mount the pump direct to the motor and control with the esc.
