I wouldn't have thought you could curve the frame like that & the conveyer belt still work.
![]() Did you taper the ends of your drive roller at all, to help the belt run center?

Not really, I have done a test run, but I forgot that I just had spot welded the fixed crush plate so it came loose and that was the end of that test!
![]() I did re-weld it the other day though, so now it shouldn't break loose. One more thing I have noticed is that the crush plates should go into each other if you would lay them together, as the sit in the crusher now, the tops of the pattern lines up with each other, guess it would crush better the other way. That's about it, it's summer now and I don't spend much time in this hobby this time of the year, more of a "get through the winter" kinda hobby. ![]() |

I noticed too that the plates need to be offset . It would definitely take less effort to crack a rock in half pressing it over a sharp point evenly rather than pinching it like wire cutters work.
I am working on some crushing equipment as well, but a slightly larger setup using existing laboratory crushers. |

As I sold the crusher a few months ago I still had a few parts left from the lasercutter to make another one, but I only have parts to make the crusherbox, so thats what Im going to do for now.
But this will be a slower build I think, I also lost all cad files when my harddrive gave up, Im going to let someone take a look to see if I can get some files back. So I started to make another eccentric, axle is the exact same as the first one, 4mm throw, seem to work pretty good, one thing I will change later is the crush plates, this time they will be offset to each other, made that misstake on the first one to have them edge to edge. We had my Denver jaw crusher out last month for Cabin Fever Expo. Worked great!
I still haven't had time to edit some video of it working crushing hard Limestone. Something you may want to consider on your jaws along with the offset teeth are; Curved jaws. Watching my machine chew the rocks it looks like the curve jaw makes it feed well. |

Nice project and great job! I´ve some worries if the excenter shaft will be strong enough...made of brass. A friend of mine built a chrusher years ago and had some trouble with teh shaft and bearings in the beginning. After changing ball into roller bearings it runs great...
But that was just an idea...keep on with your crisher. It looks great! ![]()

Yes you might be right on the brass shaft, but on the first one I did some testing crushing real rocks and it did at least hold up for that, but this time I will use a larger beltdrive and flywheel and see how that goes, I can always turn a new shaft from steel if brass dont hold up. I will try ball bearings for now, I had almost all of them on the shelf so we will see how they last. Quote:

Made a little progress, made the 2 holders for the bearings.
I got the tolerances a little sloppy on 2 spots on the shaft, I think i will go for a shaft in steel and get the tolerance right and at the same time a stronger shaft like Grainfarmer said. Might also go for roller bearings later on, found SKF roller bearings on Ebay that had a good price. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

hi this is an awesome machine great build i see a chain and sprocket on the conveyer where did you find them ? i could use some for a trommel i am makeing
