I think they drag it around to truck shows for a while or its sitting out in the back lot of the movie studio or maybe just maybe it's getting repainted and will be in another movie in the future kind of like the 55 Chevy Belair from "American graffiti" it was originally in the movie "two-lane blacktop" after that movie was done it was sitting out back of the movie studio so they painted it black and changed some little stuff on it then put it in to "American graffiti"

The Movie truck got auctioned @ Barrett jackson for 110,000 so who knows what the owner is currently doing with it

I actually used pinheads. Drilled small holes with a pinvise, put the pin through and glued it, then cut off the bit inside.

If i was to do it again though, i wouldn't do it that way. Externally it looks fine, but inside even with the pins cut, theres lots of sharp bits and i cut myself many times, and it can scratch parts when putting the body on.

Now i'd probably just use some round head resin rivets. Not as cheap as a pack of pins, but neater internally.

Thanks for the information bob, can I ask what’s the best glue to stick the body back together, I’m planning on cutting my sleeper down so I’d like to know what the best stuff to use would be, I was thinking loctite superglue?

I'd use a plastic solvent bonder like Plastruct Bondene, Tenax, or similar... it solvent welds the plastic together, so you need a good fit of parts, apply solvent to soften the joints, clamp parts together, comes up to full strength after about a day as it flashes off or dissapates through the body.

Locktite superglues like 416 or 420 would work, but it'll still be more brittle.

Backing sheets supporting the seam well be your friend while whatever glue you use it sets up.

I’m not sure in the Uk I can get the stuff you guys in the USA or OZ can get, I been busy drilling the plastic rivets out, and was even thinking of using a thin piece of fibre glass mesh on the inside of cab ? I do have thin styrene sheets though to stick inside as an alternative.

Thanks for the information, very helpful indeed, I don’t know if you can answer this but I want to move the wheels back on my reefer trailer, there is a thread here but it doesn’t mention this part, I need to make the two rear damper shafts longer (because of the chassis) do you know what works well for a longer damper shaft ? Thanks again

I'd say the most common stuff for sticking styrene together in Europe is Revell Contacta professional cement and Tamiya extra thin cement. The Tamiya cement is completely liquid and is applied while holding the parts together, while the Revell is more like a glue with a very fine applicator tip. They both weld the plastic together. I'm using them both.
I'd recommend starting your own build thread and show us your plan and progress and collect your questions there. It makes it easier to look up later
